A small design choice can make a big impact.

Pendant lighting creates a modern focal point and works especially well over islands and counters, while semi-flush mount lighting delivers a warm, versatile look that suits a wide range of rooms.

Natural light can completely change how a masonry sample reads.

Indoors, artificial lighting can flatten the colour, soften contrast, and make the texture and variation between pieces harder to see. This can make a sample appear more uniform than it may look once it’s installed outside.

Take that same sample into natural light and you’ll start to notice the warmer and cooler tones, stronger contrast, surface texture, shadow lines, and subtle variation that give the stone its character. The direction of the light can also affect how deep the joints and surface details appear throughout the day.

That’s why it’s worth viewing masonry samples outdoors, ideally at different times of day and alongside the surrounding materials, before making a final decision. Natural light gives you a more accurate sense of how the colour, texture, and overall blend will look in its intended setting.

Same sample. Different read.

As summer starts to wind down, attention turns back indoors.

This McNear Dorado brick adds warmth, texture, and character to a bright interior—perfect inspiration for the spaces we’ll be spending a little more time in soon.

A good reminder that masonry can make just as much of an impact inside as it does outside.

Last week, our team traded the office for the fairways at the Supply-Build Canada SK Golf Tournament! ⛳

It was a great day connecting with customers, suppliers and friends from across the industry, enjoying some friendly competition, and spending a little time on the course.

Thanks to Supply-Build Canada for hosting such a great tournament. Always a good time getting everyone together outside the office! 🏌️
