April 23 from 1-4 pm we will be hosting our first Village Prenatal ✨

Having women come together in circle has been happening since the beginning of time. To share the wisdom of their bodies, their birth experiences, their bleeds, their innate knowing that is deep in their bones.
🌺
This is a space for pregnant and postpartum women to gather in community. To lean into the wisdom everyone has to share, to listen to positive birth stories. We will talk about our dreamiest birth experience we want to bring into reality.
🌺
It’s a space to be witnessed. To talk about any fears you have of birth or motherhood and to be held, where you are at. No feedback is necessary, just compassionate listening is requested.
🌺
if you are a birth worker and you would like to attend and hold space, we welcome you.
🌺
Please pass this along to any pregnant or postpartum mama that would like to join and be loved on. We will start with a sharing circle, an activity and then share snack together at the end. Let’s bring back the village mentality and care for our pregnant and postpartum mama’s in a nourishing way.
🌺
This event is by donation 🌻

I had a space open up for our retreat coming up next weekend in Herschel!

If you have been on the fence and would like to join us, I would love to have you!

Come explore, create, dance, laugh, share and connect with a wonderful group of women. The last few months have been stressful and you deserve some time to rest and relax and be taken care of.

Investment for the weekend is $444, which includes all your food, snacks, supplies and sleeping.

Can you hear us calling you in? ♥️

This is a transformational time in the birth culture, because birth stops for nobody + no thing.

And we do the best with what we’ve got in birth like the times that I’ve had my sweater on the car seat as a woman gets pushy feels in the back seat + her eyes are searching for a fixed point so she can steady herself.

Birth stops for nobody and no thing.

Birth happens when a mother is comatose.

Birth happens in transit.

Birth happens when death has occurred in the womb.

Birth happens on anniversaries, sibling birthdays and last days of work.

Birth happens whether there are 30 people in the room or just yourself.

Birth happened for me when the midwife had stepped in the door a moment before: lucky, it was the calmest experience out of all of them for me.

Because birth in that case asked me to take responsibility for my own self + I’ve never felt less panicked than when I had nobody else to rely on but me.

The world, in this pandemic, may now leave birth to be.

Non-emergent surgery is ebbing as hospital staff rightfully support immediate needs. Will this cut the number of unnecessary cesareans that were borne out of impatience?

The entire earth is slowing down.

We can afford to be present with the body and baby.

To close our eyes + settle into the fact that the womb is programmed to eject a child with or without our attention + the baby is hard wired to make its way out through the path of least resistance.

It’s always been this way but everything has supported ‘now, managed, faster, faster, controlled, out-sourced, let me fix you, you poor thing, I see you suffering, get into bed’ and now we might get back to ‘this is my birth, my body is taking over, I’m doing it, it’s happening, my baby is coming, no matter what’s out there I am moving through this, the baby is moving through me, stand back, I see me, I feel me, here i squat, off my back, back up everyone, I’m birthing.’

Outside hands may not be as available.

But your hands are.

I’m hosting a free conscious birth online workshop with @fae.bird in the next week for everyone who is feeling fear when there’s space for presence. ❤️ 03/17/2020

We think it's our bones or our muscles or our skin that creates our form, but it is actually connective tissue that encases everything and therefore creates its shape. It is a continuous web, that works in layers, changing density and consistency in different parts of the body. The pelvic "floor" is a hammock of support to internal organs.

When a baby comes down the vaginal canal, it's like a large piece of fruit coming through a loose knit sock or fishnets. Some of the webbing and fibers get glued and pushed together, some of the fibers get pulled way apart. For optimal function, the webbing needs to be evened out- the fibers evenly distributed. Sometimes scar tissue feels like a "pin" in the tissue, clinging to edges of bones, sometimes the scar tissue feels like blueberry lumps, sometimes it feels granular.

Healthy tissue feels plump and resilient, spongy not soggy, with an evenness of tone.

Scars are physical artifacts of trauma; scars are necessary for repair in tearing or surgical incisions.
Adhesions are what form when scars grow in inflammatory environments. Adhesions bind together structures that are meant to be free floating and differentiated.

Scar tissue can be the cause of disrupted function like leaking, peeing when you jump, painful s*x, numbness, and prolapse. Scar tissue is ultimately inefficient once its job in binding or bracing what needs to be bound is complete.

The body doesn't always know how to break down scar tissue on it own. Heat, pressure, and awareness break down scar tissue. Tomorrow I’ll post about how to dissolve the scar tissue.

Next week I’m teaching a free class on Healing Gynecological Trauma: Taking Control of your Body, Health and Pelvis.

Our time together will start Friday evening, you can arrive at 5 pm and get settled into your space and meet the other women that are attending and we just right into circle for the evening shedding our winter months passed.
