We talk a lot about "seeing impermanence" in Buddhist teachings - this week we will talk about how we do this, and why it can be freeing for the mind and heart. Ajahn Chah describes seeing impermanence like watching "still, flowing water." We will explore this tonight in step 13 of the Anapanasati Sutta: Mindfulness of Breathing. We will review from step 1, so everyone welcome!

Concentration and Liberation: the next steps in the Anapanasati Sutta, or Mindfulness of Breathing teaching. We often feel like we have to try hard to develop concentration, but in this teaching concentration, or samadhi in Pali, develops naturally when we support it with wisdom. We will explore the role of samadhi in insight, or liberation, and consider the question of whether deep states of samadhi, called jhanas, are necessary for this freedom. Everyone is welcome!
