Who is the tree guy?
Randy Beauchesne grew up in and around Saskatoon. He worked on a farm at
an early age and spent many, many weeks each year out at the lake. His father
was raised outside of Hudson Bay, SK by a father that was a true bushman. Randy
learned the first few of his skills from family. Little did he know how that would
affect his future.
Randy started climbing trees at a young age and started working in trees when he
was 12 as a helper to an older man who had emphysema. Trimming and pruning
became a sideline out of high school so he started a small business in lawn and tree
care. More than 25 years later and a member of the Saskatchewan Nursery &
Landscape Association, the Canadian Nursery & Landscape Association and the
International Society of Arboriculture, Randy has been certified in the past as a
Certified Horticultural Technician in Landscape Installation and as a Certified Arborist.
Randy has served as President and Director of the provincial association, the SNLA,
as well as traveled to AB & ON for both the SNLA and the CNLA.
Randy has spent the last many years trying to master the art of rope climbing.
When he started working in trees he only used ropes for rigging down the largest
of branches. Regulations have changed so that you must follow a rigid set of
guidelines working above the ground. The regulations are even tougher when you
work with sharp and sometimes motorized equipment.
You will see throughout the website that Randy has extensive experience with trees. W
Working and living in SK offers a somewhat limited tree training environment. That
requires training from mostly AB based organizations such as Arborist Supply Co.
Ltd. and Arboriculture Canada Training and Education Ltd. Both are out of Calgary
and offer specialized training in all aspects of tree work.
