As part of Indigenous History Month, we were honoured to welcome a special guest, Laurence Roy, to Evergreen ELC. Laurence shared Indigenous stories, songs, and culture through his captivating Hoop Dance performance.
The children were amazed as they watched him perform with 30 hoops and create different animal shapes. He explained the meaning and significance of the Hoop Dance within Indigenous culture, helping children gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of Indigenous traditions. The children enthusiastically guessed the animals he created with the hoops and showed their excitement by clapping and cheering throughout the performance.
After the performance, the children had the opportunity to meet Laurence and receive autographs. It was a wonderful experience for everyone, and we are grateful to Laurence for sharing his knowledge, talents, and culture with our centre through the art of Hoop Dance.

Here are some lovely crafts from kiddos enrolled in our before and after school programs throughout the city!

➡️Crafting is fantastic for kids because it builds essential developmental skills, like fine motor control and problem-solving. It also gives them an outlet for self-expression!
