Should it feel like you're risking your life to ride a bike?
Should a healthy city have only one accepted mode of transportation?
Should public safety be an afterthought?
NO.
These are perennial questions faced by all modern cities, and they're somehow always made to feel complicated despite having such a simple answer: NO.
Saskatoon was forced to ask these questions in the most tragic of circumstances in 2023 when Natasha Fox and then Darin Kinniewess were killed while riding their bikes.
People justifiably felt scared, angry, vulnerable.
We were reminded of how quickly and easily we could lose our lives, or the lives of those closest to us, just by choosing a different way to get to work, or school, or anywhere.
We demanded change.
Three years later, we don't want to dwell on tragedy, but we won't forget it either.
We're STILL demanding better safety design, a better network of cycling-friendly corridors, and RESPECT as legitimate users of Saskatoon streets.
We're inviting all bike riders to join us on Sunday, June 14th for the Third Annual Ride for Your Life rally.
Starting at 2PM, at the intersection of College Drive and Wiggins Avenue, we'll talk about safety and community, and then we'll RIDE for safety and community.
Be a part of the movement to keep safety and awareness top-of-mind in our city, and help us avoid future tragedies from occurring.
See you there.
*You do not need to register to attend. If you wish to get more details, or purchase a 2026 shirt, please visit rfyl.ca (to guarantee shirt size, orders must be made by Friday, June 5)

Prizes come in all sizes, and go to all ages!
Congratulations to Lilianna F. for winning the 4th Annual Great Saskatoon Bike Passport Adventure. ๐
One of her passport sticker entries was drawn for the $650 Outtabounds gift card, our biggest single prize to date. It seems fitting that it would go to our youngest recipient ever.
Thanks to everyone who participated in BYXE Week activities, and congratulations to all of the lucky prize pack winners.

BYXE Week 2026 has been a blast! ๐
The photos, Great Bike Passport Adventure cards, and scavenger hunt lists are coming in, and wow, did Saskatonians ever explore their city by bike! Unfazed by rain, snow, and wind, and maybe motivated by some great prizes, people answered the call to visit shops, find landmarks, and document their favourite cycling places.
Remember: Passport Cards and Scavenger Hunt sheets must be returned/submitted by May 20 to qualify for prize entries. (Even if they're not complete; each task/sticker is an entry!)
Thanks to everyone for being a part of the fun! Keep riding, and keep exploring!
