On World Environment Day, we’re proud of the ways β€œbeing a good neighbour” shows up at the Inn. Did you know that we partner in neighbourhood clean-ups around our corner of 20th Street? We also steward food carefully: about 95% of what we serve is donated or reclaimed, ensuring good food nourishes people instead of going to waste. Caring for our community and caring for our environment go hand in hand. πŸ’š

We welcome large-scale food and product donations from local businesses. If your organization has surplus inventory or excess food, we'd love to connect. Your donation can help make meals for those in need while reducing waste, creating a meaningful impact in the community. Thank you so much!

πŸ’š First time hearing about the Friendship Inn? We'd love for you to learn more about what we do, how we came to be, and the impact we make in our community.

On March 4, 1969, a small group of concerned Saskatoon residents served six transient people a bowl of soup. That quiet act of kindness became the Saskatoon Friendship Inn, and 57 years later, we're still making meals happen.

Today, we run the largest free meal service in Saskatoon, serving hot, nutritious breakfasts and lunches 365 days a year, providing up to 2000 meals each day. There are no qualifying criteria to eat with us. We assume everyone who walks through our doors has a need, whether that's food, friendship, or simply a step forward. No questions asked.

We've always been here on 20th Street, in the heart of the inner city, and we couldn't do it without you. Nearly everything we serve comes from community donations, volunteers, and a dedicated core team that keeps the kitchen humming every single day.

Thank you for helping us make meals happen. πŸ’š

πŸ’› Stories from the Inn πŸ–ŠοΈ

An elderly guest, Jacob, who experiences blindness in one eye, partial vision loss in the other, and mobility limitations, came to us in crisis after receiving a move-out notice. After reviewing all correspondence with his landlord, we successfully advocated for a reasonable accommodation, requesting a short extension to complete his required annual review. The landlord agreed to reconsider the eviction if the paperwork was submitted promptly. We assisted Jacob in completing, signing, and submitting the annual review. As a result, the move-out notice was rescinded, the eviction action was withdrawn, and Jacob’s housing stability was preserved, ultimately preventing homelessness.

At the Inn, we meet individuals in moments of vulnerability, and help them maintain safety and dignity.

Our vision is a community without hunger, a people with hope.

Meeting that need, serving up to 2,000 meals in a single day, requires a kitchen that runs smoothly and efficiently. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the Friendship Inn has been able to invest in state-of-the-art equipment from RATIONAL, a global leader in professional kitchen technology.

RATIONAL recently featured how their I-Combi Pro and Ivario Pro have elevated the Friendship Inn and positioned our team to be successful today and as we continue to serve growing need. πŸ’š
