Another visible mending project. My favourite grey sweats ended up with a couple holes in the seat area that started running like pantyhose, so I stitched up the holes to make the centre of the flowers and the stems covered the runs.
Second photo shows what the holes looked like before.
Bonus pics of my butt at the end.

This was one of my favourite projects of the year. A friend commissioned a few pieces from me as Christmas gifts and when sending me examples of what she might like, she forgot that I almost exclusively do cross stitch as opposed to other types of embroidery. The main reason that I usually stick to cross stitch is that I've never really enjoyed free-hand art, preferring to follow a pattern to achieve my end result rather than winging it and seeing what happens.
This time I decided to take on the challenge and try some new stitching techniques. To my surprise, I absolutely loved the whole process, from choosing the right embroidery material at the fabric store (I found a large piece of cotton-blend in the remnant sale rack for $3), to learning how to do a stem stitch (which this piece is comprised of, using friendship bracelet yarn instead of cross stitch floss for a more textured appearance), to finishing the back of the hoop with this Spirograph-like method that is super fun to do and very effective at keeping your project tight and even.
I think there will be more projects like this in my future!

A couple of very specific commissioned pieces, both coincidentally featuring blocks. I love creating things that mean something special to the receiver.

One more Christmas-themed piece for the year, this one for my wonderful neighbours. This pattern reminded me of their kitty, Charlotte (last photo). I've included some WIP (work in progress) photos: photo #2: pre-backstitch, photo #3: post-backstitch, photo #3: wrapping paper backing and friendship bracelet woven hoop.

These ornaments were commissioned by a friend as gifts for her coworkers. I had a lot of fun making them!

I finally get to post all the Christmas-themed pieces I made this year! These three were made for members of the family that invited us to join their Christmas Day meal tonight. I had a big sad yesterday about being so far away from my own family during the holidays, so being welcomed in by the Gatza/Ardley family meant so much to me.

Christmas gift for Marc. Space/galaxy colours and themes are very much his aesthetic and he loves his dog, so as soon as I saw this pattern, I knew I had to make it for him.

I've made a few of these cute little Spiderman ornaments in the past to give to my friends' children. This one was given to Marc's coworker, who was probably more excited about it than all the little boys combined. It lives on his Christmas tree now.
