๐ฌ IRCC has started sending out invitations to apply (ITA) under the 2025 PGP. Around 17,860 invitations will be sent, aiming to approve 10,000 complete applications.
โ

โ ๏ธ No new submissions are being accepted in 2025.
๐

๐ A 20-year financial undertaking is also required (10 years in Quebec).
๐ If you receive an invitation, you must submit your full application through the PR portal before the deadline indicated in your email (no later than October 9, 2025).

๐จ๐ฆ IRCC Backlog Update: Over 840,000 Applications Delayed
Thinking of applying for a Canadian visa or immigration program? Here's what you should know:
๐ As of June 30, 2025, IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) is facing a growing application backlog โ now sitting at 842,800 cases across all programs.
๐ Hereโs a quick breakdown:
๐ Permanent Residence (PR)
โข 46% of PR files are backlogged โ especially high in Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
โข Express Entry backlog is around 20%, while family sponsorship sits near 14%.
๐งณ Temporary Visas (Work, Study, Visit)
โข Overall backlog rate: 36%
โข Work Permits: 40% backlogged
โข Visitor Visas: 53% (a slight drop from May)
โ
Study Permits: Good news! Backlog dropped to 18% โ the lowest in over a year.
๐ Citizenship Applications
โข Holding steady at 19%, within IRCCโs standard processing time.
๐ก Why the delay?
IRCC is dealing with a high volume of applications, limited staffing, and shifting immigration targets. While automation is helping, complex files still need human review.
