I’m Erin, small business owner and bookkeeper at Hello Monday. When I started my business journey I did not think I would be a numbers gal. A paint brush in hand is more my natural habitat. After years crafting and creating my own business, I decided to try something completely different.

What if I could bring my own business experiences, ideas and love for helping others into one place. I like to think what I do matters, small businesses matter and helping them succeed is what makes me feel pretty proud and lucky to be able to do my job.

My dogs also like that I’ve picked job that allows me to be home, although they aren’t the best co-workers for getting tasks done ✔️

Trying to stay chipper in business while another year is forecast to be slow in the Canadian economy can feel daunting.
When we don’t have our books in good order or know what we are spending, that also adds a little more stress.

Tips we think make it easier:
- Get your books in good shape, use a simple excel spreadsheet or hire someone who can help you figure it all out.
- Know what you’re spending and find ways to save.
- Steady as you go, holding off on buying new equipment or upgrades to your space.
- Look into grants and ways to save in your taxes.
- Need that feeling of growth? make small goals that don’t break the bank or stretch you too thin.

Some years are safer to expand or upgrade, knowing when to do so, is just one part of what a healthy business does.
