A new one for my new collection of Undeclare Portraits where I had another in-studio session with kaylin ADELE WINKER I’ve been trying to capture the magnetic in these two’s communication with my own expressionist style. Mixed-media on line 36” x 48” 2026

While I’ve been buried in the studio painting, it was a nice reminder this week that the work has a life outside the algorithm. Grateful to see Carts of Darkness featured by Artforum I’ve always moved between disciplines—film, painting, photography, sculpture, whatever medium best tells the story. Onward!

Decades of relentless expansion have left people and wildlife negotiating the same shrinking landscape. These paintings are less about conflict than coexistence after the boundaries have disappeared. *The collisions are not failures of nature. They are consequences of our success at reshaping it. Looking at British Columbia, this messy coast, our culture leaves behind traces of itself through recreation, technology, industry, and ritual. These symbols muster into a landscape that doesn’t care, yet quietly absorbs them into a hidden portal. The painting explores that uneasy trip in which human ambition is fleeting and nature remains constant and sick of healing us. BC Arts Council

Our routes, rituals, victories, and obsessions pass through the same wilderness that carried wolves before us and will carry others long after. This painting traces those messed up migrations, where culture and nature briefly collide before skizziling back into the rain. BC Arts Council

New series inspired by the book title and very strong island women I have been honoured to have sit for me. The idea was utilize this office chair I never get to sit in and have guests in my studio for community interaction, avoiding sometimes months of no studio guests as I work very rurally on an island. I have asked them each to bring an object importantant them at the moment. The session is max 3 hours, and I task myself with fully completing the piece. These paintings are mixed media on linen and 3’x4’ in size. I’m learning figurative painting, teaching me to look deeper at light, line, and colour. Spring 2026. In order so far .on.blonde66
