Protect your eyes against poor Air Quality.
1. Check your local air quality health index.
2. Stay indoors whenever possible.
3. If you’re outside, protect your eyes. Wear sunglasses or other eye protection.
4. Resist the urge to rub your eyes. Rubbing them will only make things worse.
5. Practice good contact lens hygiene. If your contacts cause you discomfort or pain, stop using them.
6. When in doubt, contact your optometrist.

July is UV Safety Awareness Month. The quality of sunglasses is important. Sunglasses with anti-reflective coating on both sides of the lens are better as it prevents both front and back glare. In addition to UV protection, the quality of the materials and consistency of the tints is crucial in providing good optics for comfortable viewing. Imperfections in the lenses can distort vision, causing a mild headache or eyestrain when the sunglasses are worn.
Come on in if you have any questions or if you'd like us to check your current sunglasses are fully UV protected.

Just like your skin, your eyes can be damaged by long-term sun exposure. UV rays may increase the risk of cataracts, eye disease, and long-term vision problems.

Easy ways to remember your sunglasses:
☀️ Keep a pair in your bag or car
☀️ Store them by your keys or bag
☀️ Have a backup pair for work or travel
☀️ Make them part of your daily routine - even on cloudy days

Pair your sunglasses with a wide-brim hat for even more protection and keep your vision healthy all summer long.

Healthy vision starts with healthy habits!

June is Cataract Awareness Month! A cataract forms when the clear lens inside your eye becomes cloudy. It can affect vision and generally develops as people get older. Cataracts can develop slowly over many years or rapidly progress over a few months. When a cataract is “ripe”, it can be easily treated with cataract surgery.
Regular eye exams are the best way to know if they are developing.
