UPDATE: Owner was found and dog reunited with them

Do you recognize this lovely dog? She was found wandering on
Sunset Dr. She is microchipped but unfortunately the number on record isn't being answered and its not set up for voicemail. The dog is safe with the family who found her so if you know who her family is, please have them reach out to the Salt Spring Animal Care Centre at 250*-537-2123. Let's get this girl reunited with her family!

UPDATE: Owner has been found and the cat has returned homed. Thanks to everyone who helped get the word out.

STRAY ALERT: This sweet girl was found on Fulford-Ganges Rd and was brought in the animal centre because of a limp. She is microchipped and we've talked to the owner of record who says this girl was rehomed several years ago and didn't have the contact information for the new family. Lost cat alert: Cricket has gone on a walkabout from home a few days ago and hasn't come home. He lives in the Kanaka/High School area and his family is looking for him. Please keep your eyes out for this long hair orange cat. He won't respond to his name, so if you have a sighting, please reach out to the Salt Spring SPCA animal care centre and we will let his humans know.

We are so sorry to report that a beautiful kitty has been brought to the shelter DOA. She was hit by a car around 1640 Fulford-Ganges Road. She is a pale grey tabby with a lighter chin and pink nose and mostly white whiskers. She does not have a microchip, tattoo or collar. If you think this is your cat please reach out to us. We are so sorry for the loss.

Please keep your eyes out for lovely Mischa. This 6 year old spayed and microchipped girl disappeared from her home on Corbett Rd sometime on Sunday July 5 and her human is missing her terribly. If you have any info that could help us reunite them, please reach out to the centre at 250-537-2123 or [email protected]

Have you seen Baboon? This friendly guy has been missing from his home on North End Rd since Saturday June 27 and his owner is trying desperately to find him. He is microchipped and been neutered. If you see him, please reach out to the Salt Spring SPCA animal care centre at 250-537-2123 or [email protected] so we can get him home.

UPDATE: Family has been located!

Do you want the joy of having animals in your life without a long term commitment? If yes, then we have some opportunities for you!

The local Salt Spring Island Animal Care Centre is in need of fosters for various situations.

1) Kitten season is upon us and we are always looking for more fosters to join our cat/kitten network of fosters. We especially need people who are interested in helping kittens and kittens with mommas. We also can use cat fosters who can help adults and seniors.

2) Rabbits! We have had a lot of calls recently about stray rabbits being found on the island. Unfortunately, we are a cat only shelter and can't house rabbits so we would like to find a few foster homes who could take in rabbits temporarily until we can transfer them off island to one of the bigger centres when they have space.

3) Like rabbits, we can't house dogs at the local centre so could use a small network of temporary foster homes to take in dogs until we can transfer them to a bigger centre.
