It seems even mythical sea creatures know where to go when a great festival is in town.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by and greeted us at Day 1 of the Maritime Festival. It was a busy day! If you missed it, you can still join us tomorrow for Day 2, from 11am to 6pm, in Steveston.
Just so you know, the mermaid was safely released back into the wild after a quick trip to Starbucks.

Richmond Maritime Festival is one of those weekends where Steveston just feels alive.
We’ll be down at the Britannia Shipyards National Historic Site in Steveston Village on Saturday, August 22 & Sunday, August 23, 2026 (11:00 AM – 6:00 PM both days) for this year’s festival.
It’s a full two-day celebration of Richmond’s nautical history — with live entertainment, exhibits, food vendors, and hands-on activities — and we’ll be there spending time with the community and being part of the action.
If you’re heading to Steveston that weekend, come find us, check out the truck, and enjoy one of Richmond’s most iconic summer events right on the waterfront.

When you get the chance to take a photo with an Olympian…you take it! 🇨🇦🥇
A big thank you to Richmond Family Place for having us at today’s event. It was a great opportunity to connect with families and members of our community.
And a special thank you to Olympian Evan Dunfee for taking the time to visit, chat, pose for a few photos, and share his Commonwealth Games medal with us.

Richmond Garlic Festival is one of those big, uniquely Richmond summer staples — and this one’s a great fit for the whole “farm, food, community” vibe.
We’re heading out to The Sharing Farm at Terra Nova Rural Park on Saturday, August 15, 2026 (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM) for the Richmond Garlic Festival, one of the city’s most popular community events.
It’s a full day celebrating local agriculture, fresh food, live entertainment, vendors, and family activities — and we’ll be there connecting with the community and taking part in the day.
If you’re coming out, swing by, check out the truck, and come say hello. Plenty of garlic, plenty of community, and a great summer tradition in Richmond.
Apparently, “really busy” isn’t considered an official annual statistic—so we brought numbers.

Ken,
As you step into retirement, we want to take a moment to thank you for all the years you’ve spent showing up for this community and for the people beside you. We’re grateful for all of it, and we hope this next chapter brings you the same sense of fulfillment you’ve given to others.
Enjoy.
