For this month's Financial Tip Tuesday, let's go over the basics of setting financial goals!
Start by identifying when you want to reach your goals and what they're for. Most goals fall into three timeframes:
- short-term goals: saving for a vacation or emergency fund
- medium-term goals: saving for a car or down payment
- long-term goals: saving for retirement
Once you've set your timeframe, consider three steps:
1. Assess your current financial situation (income, expenses, debts and savings);
2. Create a plan with a budget that supports your goals; and
3. Review your progress annually.
