Earlier this year, I responded to a call for artists from the Fisher River Cree Nation—a beautiful initiative in Winnipeg that deeply resonated with my belief in architecture as a path to reconciliation. I submitted my intent and was humbled to be shortlisted for three of the four projects.
While I wasn’t selected in the end, the process itself was meaningful. I invested so much heart into these designs that I feel compelled to share them. Perhaps they weren’t meant for this moment—but maybe they’ll find their place elsewhere.

A beautiful project that I worked on with Bird Friendly Regina
Finally in its forever home at Regina City Hall.
Inspired by the Black-capped Chickadee, Regina’s official bird, artist Madison Pascal created 'Melody of the Seasons'. This painting aims to encourage Regina to embrace the value of our native flora and fauna, especially within an urban environment. By working together as a community, we can make our city a more welcoming and supportive place for all living beings, human and animal alike. This artwork has been generously donated to the City of Regina and is currently circulating around City Hall.
“I wanted this piece to have a mixture of Art Deco and Metis influences. As this painting is a representation of myself but also of our city. Most of Regina’s buildings are from the 1910s to 20’s and display beautiful Art Deco architecture. Indigenous artwork, architecture, and design should be fluid throughout our city’s government buildings and this is a small step in the way of inclusion.
The Chickadee is seen as an honest messenger or as a guide. I have always had a connection with birds and specifically the Chickadee. To me the Chickadee is a guide. I had gone for a walk with my partner and as I was telling him a story about the Chickadees, one flew and landed on my outstretched hand. It made both of us stop talking and just admire the tiny little being that made its presence known to us.” - Madison Pascal Studio

Thanks to I can finally tick this off my goal list. I can't wait to see all the amazing pieces and people that make this event so incredible.
Here's some sneaky peeks of the two brand new works that will be at Art Now!
