What in the world has our Bander-In-Charge been up to this week? 🌏

Mike has been busy assisting master’s student Ana Cornea in Dr. Christy Morrissey’s lab at the University of Saskatchewan, helping with songbird banding near Paynton, Sk.

Their project focuses on studying songbirds in non‑crop vegetation adjacent to cropland and is part of the Prairie Precision Sustainability Network.🦆🐦

⁉Curious about PPSN? Check out their story here:

Like all bird banding projects we participate in, this work is conducted under proper provincial and federal permits, ensuring birds are captured and handled responsibly.❣

A food ecosystem is about growing, eating, and sharing food while caring for the land and nature.

• It supports healthy land, water, wildlife, and local food traditions.
• It connects harvesters, growers, producers, and families.
• It helps build stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities.

Healthy food ecosystems are closely connected to Indigenous Knowledge and long-standing ways of caring for the land through respect, sharing, and stewardship.

What does a healthy food ecosystem look like to you? 💬
