Candy is a big part of Halloween celebrations, and we’re not here to take it away! A few easy habits go a long way for little teeth:

Timing matters. Enjoying treats in one sitting, or with a meal, is easier on teeth than snacking on candy throughout the day.

Sticky and chewy candy hangs around. Gummies, taffy and caramel all cling to teeth, so a good swish of water afterward helps.

Slow-dissolving and sour candy. Lollipops and hard candy keep sugar on teeth for a long time, and sour candy can be acidic. Great as a treat, just not an all-day thing.

Chocolate is usually the friendlier pick. It melts away and rinses off more easily than the sticky stuff.

Finish the night with water, a good brush with fluoride toothpaste, and floss and you’re all set. Happy Spooky Season, Red Deer!

We start with a warm hello and a quick height and weight check, so we can see how your little one is growing. Then we take pictures of their teeth (X-rays) when they’re needed, followed by a gentle cleaning and a check up with the dentist. We explain each step as we go, in words kids understand, so you’re never left guessing either.

Nervous? That’s completely okay. Lots of kids are, and our team is ready for it. We slow down, go at their pace, and never rush a hesitant smile. Big feelings, tears and “I’m not ready yet” moments are all welcome here.

Why Does Your Kid's Breath Smell Bad?

Sweet baby breath does not last forever, and sometimes it goes south fast. Most of the time it's simple, food left behind after a rushed brushing job, or bacteria sitting on the tongue. Mouth breathing overnight dries things out, and a dry mouth is a smelly mouth, which stuffy noses and allergies only make worse. Sometimes what smells like bad breath is not actually a mouth problem at all. If the smell seems to be coming from one nostril instead of their whole mouth, especially with any discharge, that can mean something small got stuck up their nose. It happens more than you'd think. If it sticks around despite good brushing, or something just seems off, it's worth a visit so we can figure out what's actually going on!
