Even before those tiny teeth show up, your baby's gums need some love! Wipe them down with a clean, damp cloth twice a day to keep things fresh and set good habits early. Once teeth start coming in, switch to a soft-bristled toothbrush with a rice-sized smear of fluoride toothpaste. Our team practices on ALL kinds of patients to make sure we're ready for yours.

Cavity-causing bacteria can be passed from caregivers to babies through everyday moments, sharing a spoon, blowing on food, even a kiss on the lips. A few simple habit swaps can protect your baby's smile before their first tooth even arrives.

Swipe to the end for the most important part.

Meet Anita, one of our Registered Dental Assistants and a Red Deer local! She's been in dentistry for 20 years and with our team for 3, and her favourite part of the job hasn't changed. She loves helping kids feel comfortable and seeing them smile when they come to see us.

When she's not here you'll find her out in the backcountry hiking, camping, or just relaxing watching Heartland at home. And if you really want to win her over... bring pumpkin! Pumpkin pie, pumpkin lattes, you name it. She's not picky, just passionate.

Fun fact: her favourite superhero is Everest from Paw Patrol, which honestly makes perfect sense for someone who spends her weekends in the mountains.

We're so glad she's part of our team!

We work hard to make sure every kid leaves thinking that wasn't so bad!

If they're scared, step one is to show them how it's done on dino. When kids see what to expect before it happens, the whole visit feels a lot less scary!

Meet Haley, one of our Registered Dental Assistants! She came to us from general dentistry and knew pretty quickly that working with kids was where she belonged. We're glad she found us, even if it's only been a few months, she fits right in!

What she loves most about her job? The conversations she gets to have with kids. She says working with them has made her more patient and given her so much energy.

When she's not here you'll find her chasing her son around the park, strumming guitar, or rewatching One Tree Hill with a cup of tea.

Her tip for parents? Start dental visits early and keep a positive attitude about hygiene at home -- kids pick up on it more than you think.
