What is the PURPOSE behind giving yourself this portrait experience?
What is the VALUE in allowing yourself full expression of your range of self-ness?
What can be GAINED by validating and celebrating yourself as you are?
If you've never done something like this, there may be no way you could know how to answer any of these questions.
For me:
I want to make a mark on this world
I want to acknowledge what I've been through
I want to celebrate the strength I've found
I want to communicate my vulnerability
I want to claim my existence as my own
I want to show my daughter someday that I've always been mom BUT ALSO SO MUCH MORE.
I want to feel important and revered like I feel when I look at my idols in the pages of books, even if it's just a reminder that I am important to myself and those that love me.
The value is in the acknowledgement that I am worth this time and this effort. What I gain is a deeper understanding of myself, a stronger belief in myself, and a reminder of my importance in my small world. And that's pretty huge.
In this photo, in this season, Matayah was looking for connection with herself. We connected with each other, too, and I got to witness and support her stamping this moment... "I was here." She left the studio saying "this is exactly what I needed," and I felt it too.

These portrait sessions are designed for women who are looking for a place to reflect and recognize where they've come from and where they're going, and to document and celebrate who they are today.
To get a little personal and intimate with yourself, and no that doesn't require any state of undress unless you're wanting it to.
These sessions are flexible and customizable and very go-with-the-flow, which gives you the right amount of structure and hand holding with the right amount of seeing where the wind blows us.
They don't require immense confidence and self-assuredness, but rather a bit of openness and curiousity about ourselves.
The confidence and self-assuredness most always come AFTER doing the thing ❤️
