I’m gonna upskill my photo taking…! 🙈

It’s a quiet time in the depth of winter. Enjoying simplicity, reconnecting with family and our land here, spending time outside, listening in the rooted silence of the landscape. Reading, writing, drawing. Slowly. Bits and pieces, gathering. Sitting by candlelight, contemplating.

I walk the forest here and see every version of myself. I see it all shift before my eyes; long grass and wild flowers - I’m running in the field, birch leaves rustling in the wind, the wood stacking, the mud in the spring through the wheels of the dunebuggie, and the beavers making their dam. The raspberry patch, the black cherries, the chives we ate in between conversations. The games of cards at the shack after sliding down the snowy hill all day - the mighty jump just before we hit the frozen river. The pine trees that grew alongside our childhood, our snowmobile adventures, and the warm homemade doughnuts welcoming our return. The old birdhouse by the garage that fosters a family of swallows every year and the hummingbirds who travel this far north in the summer time.
I revisit the visions I had here as a child - the mystery lingers sweetly in the air.

What a great time we’ve had eh! I’m grateful for the new connections and for having so many friends there! Deepest gratitude for all who collected a tattoo from me. You guys rock hard. I might as well come back next year! 🤭

I have a list of people to get in touch with and plenty of tasks reminders floating in my mind. I’m getting ready to go. I’m looking forward to the long airport transits to do my social admin. I’ll be in touch!

This is my last week in Aotearoa, for now at least. Ah to be leaving this place… ! It is bittersweet. Yet I’m excited to be on the land of my ancestors. Back to my roots and to the depth of winter. Back to the language of my childhood.

It’s with a tender heart that I sort out the rest of my belongings. I’m confronted with memories, with my attachments, my desires, answering the call to simplify, clear out, move forward. Letting go of the clutter, the maybes and if only, the nostalgia, the unfinished projects. Bringing with me only what will serve this next chapter. - hey plus all the sentimental objects that I can’t bring myself to let go of.
Still, I’ve surrendered treasures all around the place. Back to the sea, the earth, offerings to the trees, rivers and people; those I love and those I’ve yet to know. A prayer of new life, strength and courage.

Oh hey! It’s been a minute alright.
I’m slowly emerging from a delicious cocoon. Nature has been setting my pace and I’m forever grateful for her teachings. I’ve cried so many tears lately, I’ve noticed them getting lighter in quality. Like no longer carrying the pain of denial, full permission to kiss my cheeks. These times bring BIG feelings. Hope you are finding ways to let it out and embrace your beautiful being. This life is FULL. I see you.
