Artist Monica Johnson finds inspiration everywhere—from Barcelona and the Swiss Alps to the American Southwest—bringing those experiences into work that's rich in color, texture, and natural beauty. Her collaboration with Etsy and Joseph Altuzarra sparked a new creative direction, leading to her striking quilted leather stones.

"My usual process is to flood my mind with my current favorite ideas and inspirations and then stop and ruminate on them without further input. Doing this clears my head and makes room for an idea to germinate."

Every creative studio has an unofficial assistant. Whether they're supervising paint colors, warming your lap, or keeping you company through long creative days, our pets are an important part of the creative process.

We're looking for submissions for our WHERE Women Create and WHAT Women Create Pet Tales features! We'd love to showcase makers alongside the furry (or feathered!) companions who inspire them.

• A short story about your creative work and your pet's "job" in the studio

That's exactly what happened for Rosi de Ruig. After teaching herself to make paper lampshades, one creative experiment turned into a thriving studio dedicated to handcrafted lighting, workshops, and helping others create homes they love.

"Fast forward a few busy years, and my little business had outgrown the kitchen. There was no escaping it; it was time to be brave and move my lampshades into their own dedicated studio space. I am now in my third studio, where I have been for the past two and a half years."
