I do not want to stay the same, Lord. I want to grow into the person You are calling me to be.

Remove my plans if they are not aligned with Yours, because Your will is always better than mine.

When doors close, help me trust that You are still guiding me and teaching me to depend on You more.

Teach me to quiet my own thoughts so I can hear Your voice more clearly.

Help me obey, trust You, and stay rooted in You even when the path feels uncertain.

This journey will not always be easy, but it will always be covered by Your presence.

Less of my own striving, more of Your leading.

It’s the idea that you move through life carrying everything you’ve been through—every heartbreak, every disappointment, every lesson—packed quietly on your back. At first, you don’t notice the weight because you’ve grown used to it, but over time it begins to slow you down in ways you can’t always explain. The truth is, not everything inside that backpack belongs to you anymore. And growth begins the moment you realize you’re allowed to open that bag and choose what you keep.

Because healing isn’t about throwing everything away—it’s about learning what still serves you and what’s only weighing you down. You don’t have to carry every version of who you used to be, especially the ones that only knew how to endure, not to live. There is strength in releasing, in setting things down without guilt, in choosing peace over familiarity. One day, you’ll feel the difference—the lightness, the clarity, the quiet freedom of walking forward without dragging your past behind you. And in that moment, you’ll understand that you were never meant to carry it all, only the parts that help you become who you’re meant to be.
