Quadra Cat Rescue volunteers are crossing their paws and hoping this year will be different—that instead of getting swamped with kittens, a record number of people will sign up to get their cats spayed and neutered.
Every spring, we brace for the influx of kittens that fill our limited number of foster homes. Please, everyone, help spread the word that Quadra Cat Rescue can help get pets spayed and neutered, and let’s get those cats fixed before they reproduce.
Quadra Islanders are welcome to complete the online form to participate in our lower-cost spay-neuter program.
For 17 years, Quadra Cat Rescue has been working to reduce the number of homeless cats on our island—primarily by spaying and neutering strays and through a lower-cost program to fix pet cats.
Still, every year, kittens born on Quadra outnumber local homes looking to adopt them. We have to keep on top of this because just one unfixed pair of cats and their offspring can produce 500 kittens in three years. The best time to spay or neuter is before kittens are five months old.
Spay & Neuter - Quadra Cat Rescue Quadra Cat Rescue volunteers have fixed more than 1,200 cats – and found homes for most of these – all funded by generous donations.

ADOPTED!!!!!
Franny, formerly known as Friendly'.. Her name has been changed because though she is friendly to people she doesn't like other cats!
She's about 6 years old, spayed and vaccinated.
The last couple of years have been hard on her and she really needs a forever home where she can be the only cat.
Abandoned when their owner left about 3 years ago, she and another cat remained on the property. We don't know how they got food during that time. But at times people lived or camped there and probably fed them but eventually the property was to be developed and the cats had to be removed.
We found a home for the 2 of them last summer but Franny disappeared twice and was missing for months. We now think that it's because she doesn't like other cats because after bringing her in from the cold in Nov. and putting her into a foster home we found out that she is intolerant of and quite stressed out by the presence of the other foster cats.
So, we are hoping we can find her a foster or adoptive home where she can be the queen of the household!

FOR ADOPTION: Meet the Two Brothers 'Ernie' & 'Burt'. They are littermates, already neutered, and 7 months old. They spent their first 2 months of life outdoors being raised by their unsocialized homeless mother.
They were very fearful of people at first but are now friendly and playful. They are very easy to have around as they are quite self-contained. In their foster home they get along well with other cats and actively play with toys with their humans, but they don't like to be picked up yet.
Now that we think about it it's not surprising that a lot of cats are like that. Imagine yourself in the presence of a giant creature towering over you and wanting to touch and cuddle!
They have come a long way and it is likely that they will make great pets in time in a home with patient owners. Or they could live happily in a barn situation.
If you think they might fit your lifestyle please get in touch.
Our adoption application can be found on our website quadracatrescue.com under Our Programs-Adoption and can be filled out and submitted online. Or call 250-285-CATS(2287) for more info.
