**Robin | 4-year-old mare | 15 hh |

If you're looking for a tough, sturdy young mare that looks like she could go out and actually do something, Robin is worth a look.

She's simple, practical and sensible, with enough forward to go somewhere without feeling like a runaway. She isn't a horse that I've put a lot of trail miles on, so I'm not going to advertise her as a finished trail horse — but she's proven to be quite sensible and not particularly spooky, and I think she has all the right ingredients to make a really useful horse.

Robin has had 90 days of professional training. She walks, jogs/trots and lopes, steers nicely, backs willingly, moves her hips and shoulders, and stands quietly to be mounted. She could continue in either an English or Western direction, or simply go on to become a good, practical all-around horse.

She's still green but safe and ready for someone to continue developing and put the finishing miles on her.

Robin is an easy keeper with good, sturdy feet. She's currently barefoot, good to handle her feet and currently requires no maintenance.

She's not fancy or complicated — she's a tough, useful young mare with a good foundation and a lot of possibilities ahead of her.

That’s a wrap on Corky’s 2026 show season. ❤️

This one feels a little extra special.

Last year, Corky wasn’t sound and we weren’t able to compete at all. So to come back this year, cover a whole lot of miles and put together the season we did means a lot.

We showed at Three Breed, Dawson Creek, Smithers and finished our season at Ranch Horse Revolution in Armstrong.

Some pretty special highlights along the way:

And then there’s trail. If Corky has a class, that’s it. He was consistently at or near the top in trail throughout the season, and it has definitely become one of the things he does best.

What I love most about looking back at this season is just how versatile this little horse has become. We’ve shown western pleasure, hunter under saddle, ranch riding, reining, rail, trail, conformation and more—and he just keeps showing up and doing his job.

A huge thank you to Dr. Kelley for helping us get Corky back to feeling good and keeping him that way throughout the season. After sitting on the sidelines last year, I definitely don’t take getting to walk into the show pen with a happy, sound horse for granted.

There were wins, great rides, a few things that gave us homework and a whole lot of learning along the way.

Pretty proud of Spooks Lil Pistol and everything we accomplished together this year. ❤️

It’s easy to want the result.

A more broke horse.
A better ride.
More confidence.
Success in the show pen.
To finally get past that thing you’ve been struggling with.

But wanting the result and being willing to do what it takes to get there are two very different things.

Progress takes consistency. It takes putting in the rides, doing the homework, working through the uncomfortable parts, and sometimes being willing to change what you’ve always done.

And you don’t necessarily have to do it alone.

There is a lot you can learn at home. There are great books, videos and resources out there. But sometimes you simply can’t see what you don’t know yet.

That’s where good coaching matters.

Someone on the ground can see the little things you’re missing, help you understand why something isn’t working, give you a plan, and hold you accountable to actually follow through with it.

Whether your goal is to build a better broke horse, get into the show pen, move up a level, or simply become a better horseman, the question isn’t only:

What do you want to achieve?

It’s also:

What are you willing to do to get there?

The goal matters. But the work between where you are and where you want to be is what gets you there.

And if you’ve got a goal you’re serious about but aren’t quite sure how to get from where you are to where you want to be, that’s what we’re here for at Hylee.

Sometimes a little direction, the right plan, and someone in your corner can make all the difference.

That’s a wrap on Ranch Horse Revolution! 🤠

What a weekend with Spooks Lil Pistol! We headed to Armstrong to step into a bigger sandbox and see where we stacked up, and I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished.

🏆 Reserve Champion – Open Division
🏆 Reserve Champion – In-Hand Trail, 6–15 Year Old — 2nd out of 20

Ranch Trail didn’t quite go according to plan when the water box got the best of us, but that’s horses! We had some really good pieces throughout the weekend, found a few things to take home and work on, and learned a ton.

A huge thank you to Crystal Fischer and Jodie Moore for all of the support, feedback and direction throughout the weekend. I really appreciate having good horse people in my corner who are willing to share their thoughts and help me keep getting better.

Today we’re onto Trail — time to go tackle some obstacles! 🤠
