Important Update to the NUGSS Health and Dental Referendum:

NUGSS has obtained the legal opinion above from independent counsel regarding the March 18 referendum.

The NUGSS Board of Directors has decided to follow the legal advice. At this time, the referendum has been reviewed and is now considered passed.

The NUGSS Board of Directors has approved a 20% increase in the Health and Dental Plan for the upcoming year.

The results of the 2026 NUGSS Dental Referendum are now available.

Referendum Question:
Do you approve of the NUGSS Board of Directors having the ability to remove the Dental plan component from the current NUGSS Extended Health and Dental plan if this option provides the largest benefit to the most undergraduate students?

Voting Results:
• Total Votes Cast: 133
• Yes: 66 (49.6%)
• No: 67 (51.4%)
• Abstain: 9

The referendum was not passed.
The voting link was sent out via the NUGSS President's email on Wednesday, April 8. Voting was conducted via Microsoft Forms from April 8 at 9 am to April 10 at 8 am to the undergraduate NUGSS Society fee-paying student list provided by UNBC IT Services

Next steps regarding the Health & Dental Plan will be discussed at the upcoming NUGSS Board of Directors meeting. Updates will be shared on our social media channels and website following that discussion.
