As we approach the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we wore orange shirts and spent our morning learning, reflecting, and remembering those whose lives have been impacted by the residential school system. As part of our morning program, we created our own orange shirts as a way to recognize the meaning behind Orange Shirt Day and the message that Every Child Matters.

Through these activities and conversations, we strive to create space for learning about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, while honouring Indigenous cultures, families, and communities. This week, and every week, AIFDP is committed to supporting awareness, reflection, and the ongoing journey toward truth and reconciliation.

We encourage everyone to take time on September 30th to remember, reflect, and learn more about the history and ongoing importance of truth and reconciliation. Visit orangeshirtday.org for resources and information to support learning and reflection.

This can be a deeply meaningful and heavy time for many people. If you or someone you know is struggling with the impacts of the residential school system, support is available through the National Residential School Crisis Line at 1-866-925-4419, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 🧡

As summer winds down and we head into the colder, slower months of fall and winter, getting out and about with little ones can feel a little more challenging. We wanted to take a moment to introduce our program because AIFDP might just be the perfect place to get out, connect with other families, and enjoy some fun activities together this winter!

AIFDP is a free daily program for expectant parents and families with children ages 0–5, offering opportunities to learn, connect, and build community together. Our team brings a diverse range of education, experience, and lived knowledge, with backgrounds in early childhood education, psychology, counselling, child development and more. Together, we offer a well-rounded range of support to help families and children thrive.

Our programming includes parenting workshops such as Circle of Security, Nobody’s Perfect, and Infant Massage, as well as child development education and other family-focused topics. We also enjoy regular hot lunches, food-based activities, field trips, and plenty of opportunities for families to spend time together.

Culture is at the heart of what we do. We strive to provide culturally inclusive programming and activities in collaboration with our PGNFC Elders and community partners.

Not a fan of structured workshops? We also offer weekly drop-ins on Fridays. This is a chance to stop by, connect with other families, and enjoy some time together!

Families from all backgrounds and walks of life are welcome. Parenting is better together. Come be part of our AIFDP community!

To sign up for a program, book a visit, or just learn a little more about AIFDP, please text us at 250-961-9890. 💜
