I now have a greater appreciation for people who build things! This took me way longer to build than I had expected, and I definitely had other things I like doing better, but the turkeys are out and finally onto some grass!
Last year we were really enjoying letting the turkeys free roam out in a bigger pasture area and had them trained to head into the stock trailer at night to lock them up. Unfortunately we had a coyote kill over ten of them about a week before the butcher date. So this year trying to find other ways to keep them safe, but still let them roam out on fresh grass.
They will outgrow this pen soon, but until they do I can move it around regularly onto fresh grass, and hoping I can maybe add some more panels and just make it bigger when needed. Just not too big that I'll still be able to move it by hand.

Last night I was laughing while watching Clarksons Farm (hilarious and way too relatable problems by the way) as his sheep were escaping, then I looked out the widow from my couch to discover that our own sheep had escaped.... the irony!
At least it was a nice sunset. :) And this morning the sheep got moved onto yet another pen with more grass. Hopefully this paddock will last them a little longer.
(Looking at this picture, realizing I really should mow our lawn to clean up the dandelions lol)

Are you someone who likes to have a freezer full of ground beef??
I have an animal going in for ground beef as early as next week, and if there is interest we will keep back a couple cows that lost their calves to butcher in a month or so. If not they will be headed to the auction tomorrow. These animals are still healthy and in good shape, just lost their calf and weren't good mothers. They are on grass now, but we may give them a little grain over the next month or so depending on the animal.
Feel free to check out the website or message me for details.
It was past time to get these girls and their babies onto some new grass! We had been trying to hold off so other pens would have time to grow after we have finally got some rain. A few days here and they'll be moving on again.
The cows were all excited to come over and say hi from across the fence.

Once in a while we get a baby whose mom doesn't care of it. In this case mom decided to put her energy into her twin, and this baby needed a little help so we now have a bottle baby.
The kids are definitely not excited to have a calf to take care of... 😉
Meet Supercalf Hermionie!
Everyone is a little wet and muddy today, but very grateful for some rain! Feels like the first good rain we've gotten so far this year!
Spring vibes all around!!
❤️
Yay!
Always exciting to have our first lambs of the year! Just a couple hours old and they are up and drinking from mom. Now I just need to make the kids leave her alone for a while. :) She is being a good mom and let me up to check on the lambs and give them selenium, but would much prefer we leave her alone to take care of her babies.

Cool how much a few extra weeks on grass makes!
These are from my same laying hens, some were eggs from around mid April that were hiding in the back of my fridge and some are fresh from yesterday! Shortly after the older eggs were laid we moved the chickens out to a bigger pen where they would have more access to grass and bugs that come with spring.
Which eggs are the new ones??
