Straight edge restoration. If you look at the edge you notice where I have put time on the hone during the restoration.... And where it was previously 'honed'. I start or set the bevel with a #1000 hone, by the looks of the previous marks, this was attempted to be honed on #400. The #400 is good for buck knives, not straight razors.

A 1876 Joh Engstrom, made in Eskilstuna Sweden! All original! There are 3 sets of names or initials carved I to the scales of this unit.. because of that scale replacement was out of the question, and if I'm not replacing the scales then let's keep the patina of this frame back razor... The blade is set into the frame or spine independently.... A fun job with lots of history.

Before and after! This early 1900's Wade and Butcher needed some love. This is my clients grandfathers razor, so it obviously has meaning. After we discussed restoration options we decided for a partial restoration. Removal of the heavy rust and corrosion, removal of some pitting, and finally a polish. Leaving behind a great patina to fit and match the original scales. Sure we could of made this whole blade mirror finish, but to be able to create a look or age and keep it functioning!
