There's something I really love about the shift into September. š
As the nights get cooler, the fields begin to change, too. We start moving into a different offering of local produce ā some of the familiar summer favourites winding down, while fall vegetables begin to make their appearance.
I love this seasonal shift and the reminder that our food has a rhythm of its own. Itās exciting to see what local farms are able to grow and offer us at each time of year.
September brings a whole new list of things to cook, savour, and look forward to.

One of my favourite kitchen strategies? A big pot of āeverything but the kitchen sinkā soup. š„š
š„¬
I love making a generous batch packed with whatever vegetables I have on hand ā like tomatoes, kale, carrots, and all the other seasonal goodness I can add. The best part is how versatile it is!
I can keep the base in the fridge and, depending on what Iām craving that day, turn it into a completely different meal by adding:
⨠orzo for a cozy pasta soup
⨠sliced sausage for extra flavour and protein
⨠rice for something hearty and comforting
⨠beef pieces for a more filling meal
Itās one simple prep step that makes healthy meals so much easier throughout the week ā and it helps ensure Iām getting plenty of fibre and vegetables into my day.
A nourishing meal doesnāt have to be complicated. Sometimes it starts with a pot on the stove and a little creativity. ā¤ļø

š Road trip season is here!
Nobody enjoys sightseeing⦠or sitting in traffic⦠while hangry.
One of the simplest ways to make travel more enjoyable is packing a few nourishing snacks before you leave.
When it comes to road trip snacks, I look for a balance of:
āļø Protein to keep you satisfied.
āļø Fiber to support steady energy and fullness.
āļø Healthy fats to help keep you fueled between meals.
A few of my favourites:
š„ Dried fruit (look for options without added sugar)
š„ Mixed nuts or trail mix
šŖ Protein bars made with simple ingredients
š„„ Coconut water for hydration
š° Roasted chickpeas or seasoned nuts
š§ A smoothie or green juice if youāre leaving home and plan to drink it early in the drive
The goal isnāt to avoid every gas station snackāitās to make sure you have nourishing options on hand so you arenāt making decisions from a place of desperation.
A little planning goes a long way toward keeping your energy steady, your mood up, and letting you focus on what really matters: the conversations, the scenery, and making memories with the people youāre travelling with.
What are your go-to road trip snacks? Iād love to hear your favourites! šāļø

One of the most practical ways to eat well is also one of the most overlooked: eat whatās in season.
July brings an abundance of fruit and vegetables that are naturally at their peakāsweet, fresh, and easier to work with in everyday meals. Strawberries, blueberries, cherries, zucchini, rapini, and more.
This is what āhealthy eatingā can look like in real life: simple food, in its time, without over complicating it.
Thereās something funny and oddly comforting about this trend because underneath the joke is actually a really beautiful picture of masculine and feminine energy in a healthy relationship.
The feminine often moves through intuition, emotion, spontaneity, feeling. The masculine brings grounding, protection, logic, leadership. Sometimes that protection sounds like: āWhy would you do it that way?ā while actively helping you fix the problem anyway š
And honestly? That dynamic has become such a running joke in our marriage.
Because no, heās probably going to lecture me a little first. Heās going to explain how this could have been prevented. Heās going to have thoughts. Many thoughts.
But heās also absolutely coming to help.
Thereās a deep sense of safety in knowing someone will show up for you while still challenging you to think differently next time. Not to control you, but because they care enough to lead, protect, and problem solve beside you.
The internet loves to frame dependence as weakness, but I think thereās something really beautiful about being able to soften in a relationship where someone consistently shows up when it counts.
The more I learn, the more intentional our lifestyle becomes. Not from fear, perfectionism, or trying to ādo it allā ā but from realizing how much freedom comes with making small but meaningful shifts over time.
Thereās something deeply empowering about knowing what youāre consuming, cooking with, cleaning with, and exposing yourself and your family to. Fewer mystery ingredients. Fewer disappointments caused by shortcuts, additives, or choices that were out of your control to begin with.
Do these choices take more time, planning, and effort? Absolutely.
But for me, the payoff is worth it every single time.
Better ingredients. Better habits. Better awareness.
Not perfection ā just more intention. š¤
Little by little, those small shifts add up to a lifestyle that feels healthier, calmer, and more aligned with the kind of life I want for myself and my family.
