For anyone who has ever wanted a farm tour, this is probably the closest you'll get as we don't generally farm tours (i.e. ever, unless you're part of the UBC farm practicum program, or for VERY special occasions!).

But it is long, so you have to be committed πŸ˜†

But the fields just look so good right now, and the team has been working so hard, so I want to show off everyone's work! These kind of August fields don't come without a MOUNTAIN of effort.

Hours and hours of planting, seeding, w**ding, watering and more. Not to mention the harvesting.

So feast your eyes, and then feast your bellies, as this food is all for our community to eat!

Side note - second time I mention fennel in the video, the crop is actually celeriac! Whoops!

Fall vibes in the carrot patch this last week of July!! 😲

After the nice downpour we got, we went into our nice w**d free carrots (yay, Tilmore/Thiessen tillage! - see last post) and did a big ol' harvest of gorgeous carrots.

After last week's heat, we were all very excited about the mud and cooler temps!

Get yours at all our grocery partners in Pemberton, Whistler, and Squamish this weekend.

Also will be at Naomi Martz 's market stall this Sunday at the Whistler Farmers Market along with lots of our salad greens and other goodies!

So if you've been craving some Rootdown goodness in your life - you've got options πŸ™Œ

New tool alert!

As seen in Thiessen Tillage Equipment 's earlier post, we've been running some new cultivating equipment this year. Basket w**ders and finger w**ders from Power Ox on a tractor mounted steerable cultivator on a 30" bed top set up, with 3 rows of crops.

And while the spacing is tight and the learning curve has been high and we don't have all the kinks worked out yet - we DO want to say we've come a long way since this spring, and we've done a lot less handw**ding and carrot hoeing this year - so yay! Plus it's been fun (if at times a bit stressful) to learn!

Will it be the ultimate/best tool for us in the end? Time will tell. Nothing comes without tradeoffs, and nothing means farming isn't going to remain a lot of hard work, but we like to keep growing, evolving, and trying new things around here!

Thanks a million to Budgie and Kerry from Laughing Crow Organics for their support, expertise, and that most precious resource - time - in helping us set this up and learn.

On the tractor in the photos and videos is the incredible Lucie, driving straight as an arrow ➑️, and on the cultivator is me, Ariella, trying to keep all the baby carrots alive, and kill all the w**ds!

It was a proper downpour today, and many were we happy about it!

Not only will this help with the wildfire situation around these parts (we hope), but it is also giving the fields a much needed soaking. Perfect transplanting weather, which we did a fair bit of today (Fennel, green onions, hakurei turnips, and radicchio!).

Also a wonderful break from the hot hot heat πŸ₯΅ of last week!

Incredibly though, even after a good hour or so of this rain, and some decent rain yesterday too, sone parts of the field were still dry just a couple inches down. It's amazing how much it takes to fully wet the soil when it gets very dry. But we will take it and are grateful!

Go Team Garlic!

Our small but mighty πŸ’ͺ team did a great job getting almost half our 2026 garlic harvest out in 1 afternoon last week. And just before some drenching rains a couple days later.

It's hot, hard, dirty work, but oh so satisfying, and just look at those beauties (scroll through for garlic shots).

This week has also been smoky with the nearby wildfire, so extra shout out to the team for working through it all with smiles on their faces. Let's hope for calm weather and thank our local fire fighters for all their good work on this one.

Preliminary garlic checks look good! Our main harvest will start next week!

Looking forward to a good team day with the undercutter getting these beauties out - stay tuned for garlicky updates coming soon!

Some scenes from today's tomato harvest πŸ˜πŸ…

These babies are starting to come on strong - after literal months of work (starting seeds in February, babying through the chilly months, and many, MANY hours of pruning by our awesome greenhouse team), the hard work is paying off!

So get your summer menu's happening- heritage mix and cherry mix available on our Restaurant Fresh Sheet now!

Side note - can you see Larissa in pic 3? She is literally 20 ft away from me, but nearly invisible in the cherry tomato jungle.
