I hope all is well with everyone and that everyone is getting geared up for this summer. 😀

Here at The Outpost we have been running strong to get prepared for the May long weekend.

We have had hurdles with getting things in order with the health unit and working strong with the Township to ensure we are fully compliant before opening.

This week will be a busy one , store is almost stocked.
Food , Ice Cream, Clothing , Treats , Ice are all in and more !

Our LCBO licence is taking a long time , so it is most likely we will not have that stocked.
Also TSSA is a long road as well, so gas and propane will not be available, but I am hopeful for the end of May.

Our sales will be open for our decorative sheds and bunkies on the May long weekend, however our model may not be 100% complete due to time and working with the township on permits, but can be viewed as is.
I am hopeful that it may be 100% complete this week if we can accomplish the permit completion.

We have worked very hard , and will keep everyone updated this week on progress.

At the outpost we are preparing for the grand opening on May long weekend.
New freezers and more choices for ice cream.😊

We are also dealing with the same clothing line but with more available selection as well.

We will have a selection of alcohol (beer and wine) .This is only a convenience purchase like at any convenience store. We will not be serving alcohol but will carry your local favourites.

We will have our model bunkie up and ready for everyone to take a look as well. We have some ready to go in stock on some of these if they strike your interest all the info will be there .
Our model will have all the brochures for these and info on our other family construction company for anyone needing construction work this year.
Also new ! Property Path Limited offers 12 month full property maintenance and management. From snow removal / lawn care to general security and property management.

Lots to see at the Outpost this year , we look forward to meeting everyone.

The Manitouwabing Outpost is happy to be a retailer for these amazing bunkies.

The ones shown here are in stock ready to go , we also can install them and deliver too ! They take about a weekend to put up and all of them are 160 square feet or less so no permits required.

We will have a model up at The Outpost for everyone to see and take a look on the May long weekend.

Hi all , I would like to first off thank Heather for her years of running the Manitouwabing Outpost here in McKellar.
What you built here has brought so many families together in fun times while at the cottage and locals that live here year round.

I would like to formally announce the The Manitouwabing Outpost will be open this summer (May Long Weekend).

Our names are Matt and Amanda Schell and we are the new owners.
We are so honoured to have this opportunity to continue the success Heather has brought here.

A little introduction to ourselves. We are local and live about 7 minutes away from the store. I was raised here in McDougall with a family cottage and recently moved here full time about 4 years back. We currently own and operate a construction company as well and we look forward to adding this opportunity too.
My wife Amanda will be running the store with me on the backend and my son helping in the store as well.
We are brining back all the stuff that was offered and more !
From ice cream , clothes , propane, fuel and boat rentals. +++++.
We are currently working on a liquor license as well to sell your favourite alcoholic beverages and possibly a food truck !
This is all new to us , but we are very very excited.

In 2017, my husband Dave and I opened The Outpost with the hope of creating a little seasonal spot that felt like home. Dave, who many of you knew from Camp Manitou, poured his heart into this dream with me.

In 2018, just weeks before we were set to open, Dave passed away unexpectedly. With the support of incredible staff, friends, and family, I kept The Outpost going — year after year — because it mattered. And because our customers made it all worthwhile.

Last spring, I made the difficult decision to put the store on the market. And this spring, I’ve made another: I will not be opening The Outpost for the 2025 season.

This has not been an easy choice. But after 8 summers, it’s time for me to take a deep breath and a little time for myself.

To our loyal customers: thank you. You allowed us to be part of your summers, your memories, and your traditions. And to the amazing team that stood by me season after season — thank you for being the heart of The Outpost.
