Metallic inks get their effect from copper and zinc -- they dry to a brilliant finish as these particles rise to the surface. Testing these on uncoated stock was meh, about the brass colour you see in the spilled photo. For a proper metallic shine, you definitely want to go coated, which won't absorb any ink into the fibres.
