Gallery 101 is a not-for-profit artist-run centre committed to exhibiting decolonizing counter-narra Commitment to artists and their work is our first priority.

Located in Ottawa, Ontario, Gallery 101 is a non-profit artist-run centre with charitable status dedicated to the professional presentation of visual and media arts. Each year, we present a stimulating array of solo and group exhibitions of Canadian and international contemporary artists working in all mediums, at all career stages. We also offer services and professional development opportunities to artists, curators, writers and critics.

DEADLINE: 10 AM Tuesday July 7, 2026
G101 invites visual, media, and performance artists at all career stages whose work explores self-representations of decolonizing, feminist, intersectional counter-narratives to submit to our annual call for proposals.

Selected artists will receive CARFAC fees for exhibitions and presentations in 2027-2029.

A weekend of curatorial conversations, artist talks and international Indigenous exchange in Ottawa. Bringing together Indigenous curators and cultural leaders from Canada and Aotearoa (New Zealand) to explore mentorship, exhibition-making, programming, Indigenous mobility and contemporary curatorial practice across international contexts.

Gallery hours are 1:00-5:00 Tuesday - Friday, and 1:00-3:00 Saturday.

La galerie est ouverte de 13 h Ă  17 h du mardi au vendredi, et de 13 h Ă  15 h le samedi.

WORKSHOP: Stitch and Sound facilitated by Nourish the Yin.

Art meets sound therapy. Experience mindfulness, a sound bath, and loving kindness (metta) while working on your fiber or small-scale art project.

What to expect:
âšȘ Mindfulness meditation to bring gratitude and connection into our core being and energy reserves.
âšȘ Space to work on your art project while being immersed in art and community.
âšȘ Loving kindness (metta) to bring compassion to ourselves and to Southwest Asia and North Africa, including the Levant (Palestine and surrounding area), Sudan, and Iran.
âšȘ Sound journey with an ocean drum and crystal singing bowls to support rest, stress release, and integration.
âšȘ An allowing space and trauma-informed practice to be, just as you are.

MASK DAYS: Saturdays April 25 & May 9, 2026. Our first Mask Day of the year is this Saturday!

Our staff will be masked up for gallery hours, and we invite all visitors to mask up with us.

If you have a medical exemption or would like to choose not to wear a mask, we appreciate you planning your visit for other days. The gallery is open Tuesday-Saturdays until May 30th.

KN-95 masks are recommended and will always be available for free at the front of the gallery. Thanks for helping keep our community safe!

It's time to refresh g101.ca

Thanks to the City of Ottawa's Capacity Building funds, we can take the next steps to commission an accessible, mobile-friendly website that allows us to showcase current exhibitions, events, projects, and exhibition essays, as well as our extensive archive of past exhibitions and artists. The new website will reflect our offline presence as a vibrant contemporary art space and uphold our commitment to fostering artistic development, encouraging research, and championing artists’ rights.

Web design firms based in the National Capital region are invited to submit to our RFP by 10 AM on Friday May 15, 2026.

Thank you to everyone who showed up this weekend for the vernissage and powerful artist talk by Rana Nazzal Hamadeh! the ceiling of our sky is now open Tuesdays - Saturdays until May 30th. Mask Days are Saturdays April 25 & May 9.

This Saturday the gallery will close at 3:00 pm for a special Stitch & Sound crafting, meditation and sound bath led by Nourish the Yin . This particular guided practice will include sending intentions of metta loving kindness to Southwestern Asia, which includes the Levant (Palestine, Lebanon and surrounding areas) and Iran.

Ce samedi, la galerie fermera Ă  15 h pour un atelier spĂ©cial « Stitch & Sound » (couture et son), mĂȘlant artisanat, mĂ©ditation et bain sonore, animĂ© par Nourish the Yin. Cette pratique guidĂ©e comprendra l'envoi d'intentions de metta (amour bienveillant) vers l'Asie du Sud-Ouest, qui inclut le Levant (Palestine, Liban et rĂ©gions environnantes) et l'Iran.
