Large-scale sporting events can shift routines, increase alcohol use, and intensify social dynamics. These factors can contribute to increased experiences of gender-based and sexual violence.

Awareness is especially important in the coming days. This is a reminder to stay aware, support one another, and reach out when needed.

Yesterday, June 8, 2026, we had the pleasure of facilitating a workshop with the Sexual Assault Investigation Course.

Thank you to the Ottawa Police Service for committing to keeping the door open for meaningful conversations that facilitate greater understanding of survivors’ needs in policing and, ultimately, improve survivor support.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate love and identity, but also to recognize the ongoing inequalities many 2SLGBTQIA+ people face. Behind every statistic are real lives and real experiences. This month, we raise awareness, honour survivors, and continue to push for safety, dignity, and change.

In Canada, 1 in 6 people who menstruate have experienced period poverty. Beyond financial barriers, stigma and shame continue to silence conversations around menstruation (WAGE 2025). Many individuals face limited access to products, inadequate education, and a lack of supportive resources.

These barriers whether financial, social, or educational make it harder for people to access the care they need and deserve.

Today, we shed light on all of these realities and work toward breaking the stigma surrounding periods.

For support, resources or access to menstrual products, please contact:
