Lots of student success to share from the weekend but also check out 2 instructors earning SD-CH titles in the same trial! To top it off Stephanie trained Dia but she and Morgan shared in handling duties with Morgan piloting her in Advanced Exterior while Stephanie handled her in Advanced and Excellent Containers and Excellent Interior earning 7/7 Qs

For the SD-CH - In the last search of the day Rychly pulled it off to complete his SD-CH under judge Cathy Teeth! This is dog number 4 with me (Stephanie) to reach this title but anyone who knows us knows how special this is to me with this dog. Not just because it's been hard fought (a long history of obedience and control training with a dog with a good nose but little patience to work to precision location vs "close enough" make exterior area searches especially when it's windy a challenge and we've had to do a lot of experimenting in training) but because of who he is to me and me to him - hand raised in the midst of grief

And while we are on the mushy stuff, you'll notice there's someone else in one of these pictures. Say hi to the latest Instructor to finish her SD-CH today!!! I'm so proud of this team, but also Morgan in particular. In my "race" to title senior (retired) dogs I was stressing about waiting to run Dia sooner than later while also wanting to finish Rych post IGP. Morgan stepped up to handle my girl - taking an already trained dog who is mostly worked by someone else and having to learn their handling from scratch the first time isn't easy. But she's done it well, and has improved each time. Meanwhile today she also handled Rych in Advanced Interior - a more handler aware dog with less behavior change and a tendency to fring alert. But when I impulsively offered her the chance since he technically got the last he needed yesterday she jumped on it and he stepped up too. This meant he passed 4/6 runs (2 Advanced Interior, an Advanced Exterior, and an Excellent Exterior). Super huge congratulations to .k9dogtraining and Mayhem - I'm so glad we got to earn this together!
