Mission Blend whole bean coffee will soon be arriving in stores across Ottawa as part of The Ottawa Mission’s Chef Ric’s Market Selections line.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to share more with you over the coming days.

Last Thursday, the Chef Ric’s team had the opportunity to be part of the Give to Get Art Auction.
It was a wonderful evening filled with art, community, and connection, and our students were proud to help serve guests throughout the event.

These experiences are an important part of the hands-on learning environment at Chef Ric’s, giving students the opportunity to build confidence and gain real hospitality experience while engaging with the wider Ottawa community.

From the classroom to live events this is hands-on learning in action.

Students from the Food Services Training Program and the Chef Ric's team members recently participated in the Kiwanis Feeds Kids Kiwanis Feeds Kids event, gaining firsthand experience in a professional event setting.

From plating and presentation to guest interaction and teamwork, students had the opportunity to put their training into practice while serving attendees at one of Ottawa’s important community events.

These experiences are a meaningful part of helping students prepare for future employment opportunities in the culinary and hospitality industries.

What does it actually take to run a successful food business?

At Chef Ric’s, our students are learning that the culinary industry is about much more than cooking.

In the last week , the Food Services Training Program welcomed Elizabeth Kilvert, founder of The Unrefined Olive, who delivered a lecture on retail and business operations for our students.

Sessions like these give students valuable insight into the realities of the food industry from customer experience and operations to building sustainable food-focused businesses.

We’re incredibly grateful to the community leaders and professionals who continue to invest their time into helping our students grow both personally and professionally.

On June 3rd, Chef Ric’s will be taking part in Taste for Hope a special evening supporting Shepherds of Good Hope through food, community, and connection.

Events like this remind us how powerful the culinary community can be when we come together for a cause.

🔥 BBQ Thursdays are coming to the YMCA patio! 🔥

Starting this Thursday, May 21,Chef Ric’s will be serving BBQ lunch combos every Thursday from 11am–1pm on the YMCA patio at 180 Argyle Street (weather permitting).

Enjoy burgers, sausages, hot dogs, chicken, and halal options all served with a side and drink starting at just $4.99.

It’s the perfect reason to be outside, enjoying the patio, and grabbing a fresh BBQ lunch downtown this summer ☀️🍔(weather permitting).

A strong culinary foundation starts with the basics and knife skills are one of the most important tools any chef can develop.

Last week, Chef Jesse visited the Chef Ric’s kitchen to lead our newest Food Services Training Program cohort through a hands-on lesson in knife handling, safety, and preparation techniques.

Sessions like these help our FSTP students build confidence in a professional kitchen environment while learning directly from experienced chefs in the industry.
