CAST PROFILE:

Farmer by day turns stripper by night.

Jak’s got it all and he’s not afraid to show it off. He first hit the stage back in 2011, and since then he’s had the chance to perform on a wiiiiiiiide variety of stages, from local bars all the way to World Pride and major burlesque festivals.

Previously a member of Canada’s Capital King he is now part of the O-Town Packers, the only drag king troupe in Ottawa. Together with his brothers, Jak has been an advocate for the drag king community for over a decade.

Meet Ottawa’s bad boy with the most (ass)ets, Jak Ammer! He’ll be flaunting everything he’s got at the on October 18th as part of Drag Me To Hollywood. Just remember the one rule:

Drag Me To Hollywood is an ALL DRAG KING spectacular that will take the audience on a journey with enormous red carpet energy, a touch of film noir, and some big, stupid, campy fun.

Sixteen months ago, four best friends set out to do something different and weird and wonderful with the art forms that brought us together. Turns out that our artist community is pretty different and weird and wonderful too. We are forever grateful that you gave us a chance.

Hey friends!

With Into The Sparkleverse just two sleeps away, we wanted to make a quick announcement about our door time and start time.

Long story short: they’re REALLY firm.

Our friends at the Bytowne Cinema have been incredibly gracious in giving us the time we need to pull off an event that is quite different from what they’re accustomed to hosting. In return, we’d like to hold up our end of the agreement, which is to be out of the building in a timely fashion.

As a result, we will be opening doors at 8:30PM and starting the show at 9 PM on the dot.

If you arrive late, you are still more than welcome to join us! Just know that the show will be in progress, and you may have missed some context clues that help the Sparkleverse make sense to us mere mortals. Additionally, when deciding when to leave for the show, DO NOT bank on the assumption that 9:00 PM is actually 9:20 PM in artist time.

When NASA launched Apollo 11, they planned the launch down to the minute. The Sparkleverse is much farther away than the moon, and while technology has advanced since 1969, we will follow suit in terms of punctuality.

Meet Rhapsody Blue (): The Guardian

Our final headliner needs no introduction, but deserves an extensive one. We’ll attempt here to split the difference.

Rhapsody is a decorated performance artist, instructor, educator and producer in the cabaret space. Affectionately known as the Bombest Bo**ie in the Book Club, she has toured internationally, performing a unique mixture of burlesque and circus arts at festivals across Canada and the United States. The Kingston resident is also a highly accomplished event host and emcee.

While Rhapsody’s performance resume is extensive, it is equalled - if not surpassed - by her impact as a producer and talent builder. From 2015 to 2020, Rhapsody produced Burlesque Wednesdays, a weekly variety show in Ottawa that served as the proving ground for countless local artists (including most of the Shameless Creatives partners) who would not be where they are without the opportunities she provided. Today, she is a part of Limestone City Burlesque, a Kingston-based burlesque collective, and she works with Kingston Circus arts as an instructor.

It is so fitting that Rhapsody, ever a powerful force for good in the cabaret space, would serve as The Guardian, who is tasked with defending the Sparkleverse against those who would wish it ill.

Meet Lolo Merlot (): The Ambassador

When humanity needs to negotiate with otherworldly beings and the greatest heroes of legend, we bring in the big guns. By “big guns”, we mean the most charming person you’ve ever met in your life.

An local powerhouse with over eight years in the industry, Lolo Merlot is full bodied and sure to make you blush. Her endless legs and voluminous curls strike an exceptional figure, but it’s her effortless charisma that you quickly come to appreciate most. Whether you’re shooting whisky or savouring a glass of her namesake red wine, a minute in her presence will linger in your mind for the rest of the night.

When she’s not bartering for the fate of human existence, Lolo hosts and co-produces Basement Burlesque, Ottawa’s only monthly variety show monthly at the iconic . The show runs on the third Saturday of every month, featuring a mix of up and coming talent and established titans of the industry. You can follow @613.basementburlesque for all the deets on that.
