Handmade in Canada. I love to create beautiful things that fit real people in the real world. 'Popolo' is the Italian word for people. Popolo Design was born!
I learned the word on a trip to Rome in 2005 where we visited the Piazza del Popolo, The People's Square. As a lover of words and language, the word tickled me. I felt it conveyed the joy that I feel when I am creating. My goal is to bring my clients, the people, joy and confidence. Therefore, the word popolo seemed a natural fit to convey those goals.

Decorating egg cookies for Easter. They won't be as pretty as .ottawa , but at least they'll be delicious thanks to her recipe and tips from her cookie class! 🐰🐣

Something you might not know:
Sometimes it isn't just sewing...a lot of times it isn't just sewing. The actual construction is probably about only 20-25% of the process.
There's the idea, then designing and planning, then sourcing fabric, then cutting, until finally it all comes together. Did I mention problem solving? Because there's a tonne of that too!
As a one person shop, it can be challenging to keep up the creativity and a little daunting learning new skills like this embroidery software, but I love it and won't stop!

The theatre, the theatre, what's happened to the theatre 🎶

A few people have said, "wouldn't buying them ready made from overseas or the internet be easier and faster?"
Yes it would be both of those things.
But here's the thing.
My clothes and accessories are made by hand. My two hands.
If I'm not sewing it myself, I can't call it handmade and I wouldn't want to put it out into the world.
Someday I might sell things that aren't made by my two hands, but I promise to be open and transparent about it. 🧡
