Our sweet Kevin is not doing well and giving us quite the scare this week.
The severe gastrointestinal inflammation caused by lily exposure is now affecting his heart and causing a low heart rate. Because of this, he is currently on continuous ECG monitoring.
Kevin is also diabetic, and the stress and inflammation are throwing his blood glucose levels completely out of control. His medical team is having a difficult time regulating his body as he fights to recover.
Right now, Kevin is very lethargic and is not eating on his own. With his initial hospitalization after the immediate exposure and now his ongoing most recent hospitalization, his veterinary bill has already climbed to nearly $6,000 and continues to grow. This is an expense our rescue simply cannot afford on our own. Between Kevin and several recent emergencies, our outstanding veterinary costs are approaching $30,000.
With kitten season in full swing, we are faced with the heartbreaking decision to close intake until we can pay down these bills. Every day we receive calls and messages about cats and kittens needing help, and being unable to say yes is devastating.
Kevin was saved from euthanasia at the shelter. We fought for him then, and we are fighting for him now. He deserves every chance to recover.
Please consider donating, sharing this post, or helping us spread the word. Every dollar makes a difference, and every share helps us reach someone who may be able to help.

This family got their first vaccines and microchips. They were all so brave!😺
Kittens: Their purrsonalities aren’t super individualized yet, but they’re all delightful, spunky, happy and adorable kitties! They all seem to hang out, cuddle and play with each other, so any two of them would make purrfect pairs! Otherwise, they need young, energetic feline friends in their adoptive homes.😸
Mamma Yuna: This beautiful young lady with green eyes, sleek black fur and tiny white hairs on her chest is about two years old. She’s incredibly friendly—even with visiting humans! She trills for attention, purrs for pets and loves getting brushed. She’s been a wonderful mom but is likely looking forward to a life of leisure in her forever home! She hasn’t been with cats (other than her kittens) in foster care.🐈⬛

This big handsome hunk of a cat is a work in progress. Yanked from the euthanasia list he made his way to Ottawa causing such a fuss that the lovely driver was only too happy to hand him over. Frightened and with those wonderful gastro issues foster families enjoy he has calmed down been neutered and 'firming up'. He continues to blossom in his foster home where the ‘tables have turned’. Foster Mom reports that he is playful affectionate and quite chatty. In fact he is quite the Momma’s boy now.
If you would like to help more cats like Sammy please consider donating sharing, liking. Our links are below. We thank you.

Kevin is currently hospitalized after ingesting part of a lily. Thankfully, the situation was recognized quickly and he was rushed to Capital City for emergency treatment. Right now, he is receiving the care he needs, and we are doing everything possible to give him the best chance at recovery.
We want to use this as an opportunity to educate, not place blame. Many people are unaware that lilies are extremely toxic to cats. Even a small amount of exposure can cause severe kidney damage and can be fatal without immediate veterinary intervention. This was a heartbreaking accident that could happen to anyone who is unfamiliar with the dangers these plants pose.
Kevin's story is especially hard because we fought to save him once already. He was rescued from a shelter where he was facing euthanasia, and now he is facing another life threatening battle. We do not want to lose him.
Unfortunately, emergency hospitalization and treatment for lily toxicity are incredibly expensive. This mistake will cost the rescue thousands of dollars at a time when we are already struggling to keep up with the growing needs of the cats and kittens in our care.
If you are able to help, any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward Kevin's medical care and the many expenses still ahead for this rescue family. If you cannot donate, sharing this post and giving our posts a little thumbs up helps more than you know.
As always, thank you for clicking and maybe even reading our posts.

Today marks 486 days in care and what a difference. Our earlier photos of her were not the best as it was only the rare occasion that her foster saw her. Look at her now front and centre and enjoying the attention.

Once a dedicated homebody, she's now expanding her kingdom to include exciting destinations like the bathroom sink. In the evenings, she confidently claims the prime couch position between her foster parents and even accepts pets from the male human—an honour not granted lightly. Also absolutely.

Names: Fig & Brie (Bonded Pair)
Gender M, F
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
DOB: July 22, 2025
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Unknown
Good with dogs: Calm, cat-savvy dogs
FOSTER UPDATE: Fig is a sweet and gentle boy whose personality has really blossomed in foster care. He loves having a cozy spot to nap and can usually be found snoozing somewhere soft and comfortable throughout the day. When he’s awake, he’s curious, playful, and enjoys spending time with his sister and foster family. Fig likes being close to his people and has become a very affectionate companion.
Brie is a loving, talkative girl who always has something to say. She likes to announce herself whenever she enters a room and will happily tell you all about her day. Brie loves being near her foster mom and always wants to know where she is, often following her around the house like a little shadow. Brie is otherwise healthy, though she may have developed another hernia in the same area of her abdomen as her previous one. To be investigated.
These two are a wonderfully bonded pair who adore playing together and interacting with their foster family. They are affectionate, curious, and enjoy being close to people, other cats, and calm dogs. While they can still be a little cautious around loud noises or unfamiliar situations, their confidence continues to grow every day.
With patience, love, and understanding, Fig and Brie will make an incredibly special addition to a lucky family.

Each week, our foster families share updates on the cats in their care. Yes, there is admin in fostering! This week, a trifecta of very hormonal females. Zerah, Lottie, and Fern are all in heat.
There are some sweet moments: the cats are extra affectionate and friendly with their carers while confusing the resident cats and, of course, loudly singing the song of their people at all hours.
They will be spayed soon, but until then, spare a thought for their foster families. This is the last cycle for these cats, and quieter days are ahead.

Name: MORSEL
Gender: Male
Breed: DSH
DOB: April 20, 2025
Litter trained: Yes
Good with kids: Unknown
Good with dogs: Unknown
Litter trained: Yes
FOSTER UPDATE: We’re starting to recognize Morsel’s routine this week! He still spends most of the day in his bed napping. Like clockwork, he’ll appear near his bowl for breakfast and dinnertime. His energy is at its peak at around 9pm when he’ll use his litterbox, then come upstairs to sneak around the kitchen, play or even sit on the couch with us. He has been meeting some of our patient guests this week and remains incredibly shy for most of their visit but always willing to accept Churu!
Should you wish to help us provide a future for other worthy souls please consider donating. A share or a thumbs up helps get these cats seen and adopted.
