This is the man who made me. And it’s his birthday today!
My dad was a handsome devil … he was also funny, charming, kind, curious, and a lover of nature, people, laughter, Demerara rum, pipe to***co, back roads, long drives, spaghetti, fresh corn on the cob, hockey (all sports, really), and good times of all kinds. I wish you would have all gotten to know him, he was a beaut!
I miss him every day. It’s been almost 16 years since he’s been gone but I can still hear his voice, his laughter, and his kind words when I need them most. Every child should be so lucky, because to be truly seen by a parent is a rare gift.
Happy heavenly birthday to the best dad ever, April 14. 1918 - June 12 2005.
