Sowing the Seeds of Community in Port Burwell!
Vienna Swans are pleased and proud to present their 1st Annual Community Volunteer Award to HENRY ZOMER in recognition of his dedication to Cultivating Young Minds and helping to grow stronger, more connected community.
~~Henry began a community garden at the Parish Hall in Port Burwell in 2019. A modest 10 ft x 12 ft plot has grown in 8 years to 100 ft square! A thriving community garden filled with a wide variety of vegetables, flowers and herbs.
Students in Grades, 4, 5, 6 from Port Burwell School visit every Wednesday afternoon throughout the spring, summer and fall to help with planting and harvesting. The Bayham and Port Burwell Horticultural Society uses part of the space to store planting materials and assists with other needs of a growing garden, while the Otter Valley Naturalist Society has established a pollination Centre with the garden.

Our final meeting was held June 1 before we take a summer break.
A generous amount of craft supplies was collected by our members to add to the resources of the Boys and Girls Club of Chatham Kent. Creativity of the children who attend the Club is encouraged.
