With late spring calving almost complete, here's Leona 16 G with her bullcalf sired by CLR Mayday 45M. We're impressed with Mayday's offspring. All calves born unassisted. Leona 16G is a daughter of Birch's the Boxer, and is owned in partnership with Cowlick Ranch of Olds, Alberta.

This guy has been out breeding for a couple months and still looks like this! His calves might be our most exciting sire group, they are a very consistent type and style. Definitely keep an eye out for his progeny in the future.

It was basically 1 year ago that we signed the deal to purchase the SLC herd! The weather has made the last month of calving one of the longest ever, but there are some really exciting calves on the ground. Scott & Lisa and their family built a very special cow herd and we hope to continue that. Can’t wait for the green grass days and to watch these calves grow this summer!

I think if the barley has sprouted on my tractor steps it’s a sign it desperately needs a wash. We are thankful for the much needed moisture but the long mud season and up and down weather has definitely made a few more grey hairs sprout too. Hoping this is the last of the snowy cold weather and looking forward to some warmer springs days!
