Oakville-based charity Front Line Outreach, which provides assistance programs for low-income families, has received a $30,000 donation to support their Kids’ & Youth Video Game Nights.

The Rotary Club of Oakville announced it had made the donation in a May 28 press release.

Ron Shantz, the executive director and co-founder of Front Line Outreach, said he was deeply grateful for the donation.

“This will enable us to increase our capacity to engage more children and youth from low-income families in Oakville, particularly those who are socially and relationally isolated due to social anxiety,” said Shantz in a press release.

“Even though they are still video gaming, they are now socializing and participating with many others in a safe and healthy environment and building meaningful relationships with each other and the broader community.”

Front Line Outreach noted on its website that the Kids’ & Youth Video Game Nights provide a safe, fun and supervised space where kids and youth can connect, build friendships and unwind through video games.

They said these evenings bring together 30 or more kids in a caring and structured environment supported by trained staff in two different locations in Oakville.

For many families — especially single-parent households — Front Line Outreach said this program also provides meaningful support by offering a safe place for children to enjoy themselves while parents take time to rest, work, or complete essential tasks.

For more than 100 years, Oakville Rotarians have raised funds through special events to support local area charities and not-for-profits, dispersing financial aid to many organizations along with their projects and initiatives.

Ron and I (Joyce) are all smiles after the fundraiser numbers showed, together with friends, we raised over $60,000 to send children living in subsidized housing to Camp Dakota for a free 7 week summer camp experience filled with fun, friendship, memories, and life changing moments.
