Breathtaking View of the Rocky Mountains in Kananaskis :
The moment the trail rises above the treeline, the Rocky peaks appear like a jagged crown stretching across the horizon. Their slopes are carved with ancient ridgelines, some dusted with lingering snow even in summer, others glowing warm gold under the afternoon sun. Below, the valleys open into sweeping carpets of pine forest, broken by ribbons of turquoise rivers that catch the light like moving glass.
A gentle wind carries the scent of spruce and cold stone, and every few steps reveal a new angleātowering cliffs, shadowed bowls, sunlit meadows, and distant glaciers shimmering like silver. The silence is deep but never empty; itās filled with the soft rush of mountain air and the distant echo of water tumbling somewhere far below.
Hiking here feels like walking through a living postcardāraw, vast, and humbling. The mountains donāt just surround you; they rise above you with a presence that feels ancient and powerful, reminding you how wild and beautiful Alberta truly is.
This is a Must-Do Hike in Waterton Lakes National Park
If you're visiting Waterton Lakes National Park, the Bearās Hump hike is a short but spectacular trail that offers panoramic views and a rewarding experience for hikers of all skill levels.
Nestled just behind the Waterton Visitor Centre, the Bearās Hump Trail is one of the most popular hikes in the parkāand for good reason. This 2.3 km round-trip trail climbs approximately 214 meters and can be completed in 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Though steep, the trail is well-maintained and features benches along the way for rest stops, making it accessible to families and casual hikers alike.

Perched high along the Carthew-Alderson Trail in Waterton Lakes National Park, the view of the lake is nothing short of spectacular. As you descend from the alpine pass, the shimmering turquoise waters of Alderson Lake stretch out below, cradled by rugged cliffs and dense forest. The contrast between jagged peaks and the serene lake surface creates a scene so pristine it feels untouched by time. It's a moment where nature's grandeur leaves you breathless.
