Inspirational Memoirs & Memories of the Women Who Shaped Ontario’s Grape & Wine Industry
by Jennifer Wilhelm

She was ahead of her time, breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries - agriculture and advanced science academia. She was unconventional, bucking systems and customs. She forged her own path and earned the respect of her colleagues through hard work, tenacity, and commitment to a cause and an industry. Short in stature but abundant in her zest for life, care of others, her indomitable strength, infectious laughter, and one-of-a-kind sense of humour. They broke the mold for this remarkable woman, and she broke down the walls for future generations to follow.

When asked what advice she would give young people, Helen didn’t hesitate. “Work hard and never let anyone put you down. If you mess up, pack it in your memory and do better next time. Don’t be afraid to change course. If something else is better than your original plan, head off in that direction. Don’t worry about conforming.”

Thank you, Dr. K. Helen Fisher

A year ago, we launched "Sharing a Glass" at our first public signing event - appropriately an International Women's Day celebration, hosted by female wine agency owners.

IWD was a perfect day to introduce our book to the public as it is the story of women rising above externally imposed limitations with internal grit and grace.

Fast-forward a year and "Sharing a Glass" is selling through several international sources. But respecting the current buy-national initiatives, we'd like to bring your attention to the , locations where you can buy your copy (and buy some great VQA wine while you are there!):

Creekside Cellars Winery
Fielding Estate Winery
Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery
Inniskillin Wines
Lailey Winery
Malivoire Wine
Niagara College Teaching Winery
Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery

And stay tuned to our socials for news coming soon about a fabulous spring-time event!

Lovely to see ’s face smiling back at me when I visited yesterday, from amongst a selection of other local delights.

Huge thanks to Malivoire and the other wineries who have supported our passion project* by selling the book in their wine shops.

*This book is Jenn Wilhelm’s creation. I was honoured to contribute some blood, sweat and tears by editing the book for her, and by penning the foreward and a couple of tributes.
