Some recent work.
A very nasty Norway Maple that we removed because of poor pruning practices in the past.

Also a mature Sugar Maple that finally let go and blocked a trail system we maintain because of a weak attachment by the base.

Ontario IMPORTANT NOTICE: Oak Wilt has been confirmed in Ontario!

Oak wilt is a disease caused by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum. Red oaks are particularly susceptible, resulting in tree death within a single season. Oak wilt is spread naturally through root grafts or beetles carrying fungal spores.

What you can do:
• Don't prune oak trees between April and August
• Don't move firewood
• Check oak trees for signs of oak wilt, which are:
° Dull green, brown or yellow leaves
° Cracks in the trunk
° White, grey or black fungus
° Early and sudden leaf drop
• Report suspected signs to the CFIA

Hard to believe this is the same yard! Lots more sunlight and room for activities!

So glad we were able to take this down today before it was too late. This birch tree looked reasonable from a distance, but closer inspection revealed a decay column making it a hazard to have so close to a house.

We have lots of firewood available!

Here's another ash tree that has been impacted by the emerald ash borer. Glad we could get this tree taken care of before it becomes too unsafe to climb or an insurance claim!
