🚨MOMMA CELEBRATION 🎉🚨
When a "momma" gets adopted before her babies do, that is call for a celebration....that rarely happens.
Usually all the babies are adopted and momma sits waiting and waiting in foster care.
Well this is not 🚫 the story for FREYJA.
Freyja's story is very much a Cinderella 🪄story.
Freyja is ADOPTED and is settling in at her forever family.
Thank you 🙏🏿 Mandi and family for adopting this girl and we just know that she's going to have her best life and best days ahead of her ♥️
Here is FREYJA'S story 👇with its many twists and turns to get where she is today.
We had 2 urgent pleas for help from 2 different individuals about two cats that were left behind when their owner was evicted from her home and left the cats behind.
Thankfully the landlord cared about the cats and was feeding them but they didn't know what to do with the cats.
Nancy & I went to the house to meet the cats. They both were lovely. Katy-Kat was shy and then there was a VERY PREGNANT Freyja that was "hi!!! Pet me pet me pet me !!!"
Katy-Kat was spayed & vaccinated 2 days later and her foster mom ended up adopting her and Kay-Kat is living her BEST life with Elaine and family❤️
Freyja went to the very capable and loving foster home 🏡 of Sara and family. Freyja had a HUGE beach ball belly and gave birth to 6 kittens a few days later. Freyja is such a good momma. From what we know, this was her 4th litter of kittens 😭
Thank you Sara for taking such good care of FREYJA and all her kittens - they are all getting neutered/spayed at the end of September- 4 of Freyja's litter are pre-adopted and 2 still are looking for their forever homes 🏡
We are happy to announce that there will be no more litters of kittens for Freyja and she just gets to "cat"
In her prior life, Freyja was an indoor /outdoor cat 🐈 thus the pregnancies and we were told that there was a period of 8 months where Freyja was missing but somehow made her way back home.
Freyja is NOW an indoor ONLY cat 🐈.
This is where the story gets absolutely lovely and we know it was meant to be where Freyja now is.
Mandi and her daughter saw our post about Freyja asking for a foster home 🏡 for her to have her kittens in. They decided that they'd like to do this but then saw the post that a foster home had already been found for Freyja.
So they watched ....and they waited for when Freyja would be available for adoption.
In the meantime they adopted another young female cat from another rescue with the hopes that Freyja would join when she was available.
And here we are!!!! Freyja has a new cat friend and a dog and a lovely family.
Tell us what you think ???
Is she enjoying her new life ???
Photo 📸 dump 👇because FREYJA deserves this new life ❤️

🚨UPDATE - Sunday, August 31 at 2pm ⏰ momma has been secured AND kitten #5 that no one knew about. A live trap was left behind in hopes that if there are anymore "surprise kittens" left from the litter, that they will be caught too .
Stay tuned.......
*********************
🚨UPDATE - ALL 4 kittens have been live trapped and are safe in foster care.
Now to get momma 🤞🤞🤞🤞🙏🏿🙏🏿
🐈🐈AND IN KEEPING WITH THE CAT-URDAY THEME ....
This 👇is happening RIGHT NOW‼️
Our "BOND TRAPS" (named in memory after the cat of the donor of the traps) are being put to good use last night and today!!!
We were contacted after someone stated to see a mom cat 🐈 and her 4 kittens coming around their home 🏡. They are in the country outside of town.
The Bond Traps were set up last evening.
Two kittens🐈🐈 were caught through the night.
Thank you 🙏🏿 Marla for dropping everything today and going and picking them up.
Another phone call was phone 📱 received a few minutes ago and kitten #3 has been caught.
Marla is on her way out there again to pick up #3.
***1 more kitten to go plus MOM‼️
Please send some good vibes that we get the WHOLE FAMILY.
Babies are looking like they are 4 weeks old, so ya, they still need their mom and siblings.
We will keep y'all posted.
We thought we were done for the year. Apparently not 🚫
Spay and Neuter your cats!!!
Don't drop them off in the middle of nowhere. Odds of survival are not high in our area with all the wildlife and our frigid winters.
We need tougher laws that actually are imposed for those that abandon their animals.

🚨FOSTER HOME URGENTLY NEEDED 🚨
We are looking for a foster home, so that we can take Maisy into our care. The owner is overwhelmed and has been out of work for over a year now. They are losing their current living arrangements and don't know what the future holds or where they will be or how they will provide for Maisy.
*To be clear, when we were approached by them, Maisy had fleas & worms -we offered and supplied assistance to get Maisy flea treatment and deworming treatment. That was accepted and Maisy is good now.
About Maisy :
✅3 years old
✅Spayed
✅Needs vaccines updated - we will take care of this as soon as we have a foster home 🏠 secured
✅She has lived with other cats 🐈in the past
✅Good with small dogs 🐶
✅Good with children
✅ Affectionate and a total lap cat 🐈
✅Kitty litter trained and no "accidents" outside of her box
✅Maisy has always been an indoor only cat and will remain one
Please apply to foster Maisy:
https://forms.gle/xGJtLaSiZnSDAxfV9
This is an unfortunate situation for Maisy. Times are tough and we have offered assistance because we would rather keep an animal in existing home 🏠 if the owner loves and cares for the cat.
The owner does love Maisy very much.
The owner doesn't see a way out or anything improving with their personal situation and has asked for our help to find Maisy a new home.
So here we are...
Please help us find a new home 🏡 for Maisy.

🐈Happy Cat-urday from Joey🐈
Joey is our perfectly, imperfect Tail Pull boy.
In our eyes 👀, Joey is perfect.
He is still with our rescue after 2 years and that's ok ...and yes, he's available for adoption.
He needs his bladder expressed 2-3 times a day. This is a result of an injury that happened to him when he was only 6 weeks old. He was dropped off at a Quebec shelter already with the injury - could have been picked up by his tail, could have had his tail stepped on, we will never know how it happened. As a result of his injury, the nerve endings in his tail base were disconnected. Joey has a limp tail. He runs, plays just like any other cat would.
We saved him from euthanasia and he went to a wonderful foster Jessica who took him to many specialists in the Toronto area..
He then came to me at about at a year of age when Jessica was going on an extended vacation....
He has stayed with me ever since.
Joey is sweet, affectionate and loves to nuzzle his face into yours. While I'm expressing him he nuzzles in under my chin and he PURRS. It's like he knows it is helping him.
He starts each night when I get in bed, by sleeping on my chest and obnoxiously head bumping me and pawing me for pets. Then he moves over to his cat bed and sleeps there for the rest of the night. Joey knows his name and comes when he is called. He is a super cool 😎 cat. He walks well on a leash and harness.
We know he's a bit of extra work but he's SO WORTH IT ❤️
There are THOUSANDS of cats 🐈like Joey out there. I belong to group on Facebook that has over 10,000 members and the wealth of knowledge on the group from the admin is incredible. I have tapped into their knowledge multiple times over the past year.
Joey is not 🚫 hard to look after.
Once I had the expressing technique down, all was good.
Joey's quality of life is GOOD. It just takes a little extra effort.
I am going on my first holiday in 2 years starting Monday.
Thank you Justine Ilene for arranging to come into my home so that Joey feels comfortable. Justine will be popping by 2x a day to express Joey. I have other help from my family that are staying at my home while I'm gone.
Thank you to all involved to let me have this little break. I appreciate you all ❤️

What we will say, is much thanks and praise belong to their FABULOUS fosters - Marla, Sara, Breanna, Katianna, Stephanie & Mindy - because of all these fosters and all their hard work, ALL of these kitties are well rounded kittens that are very social.
You all did a wonderful job ❤️

🚨THANK YOU 🙏🏿🚨
For those of you that have been following, you will know that we took in our first CH/wobbly cat syndrome.
It was quite by accident that she came into our care. Our foster was at a farm to pick up kittens 🐈 and the owner pointed to a cat that she said didn't walk right and could we take it. A quick decision was made and there was no way that the cat was going to be left behind. No way would this cat survive on a farm outside 😭
So Oopsie Daisy joined Cottage Paws Rescue 🐾 and she has been a favourite for sure ❤️. Her Cerebellar Hypoplasia is mild. She is the sweetest girl.
Of course she wasn't spayed 🤦
Arrangements were made at our vet clinic. Special care has to be taken when CH kitties wake up from anesthesia due to their ch unsteadiness.
All of the kittens and Daisy were sick with uri so their spays and vaccines were delayed to make sure that they were all healthy..
We would like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU 🙏🏿 to Shelly who came to our Bake Sale 🥧to meet us in person.
She presented us with a cheque and some cash that paid in full for Oopsie Daisy's spay.
The cheque was from the sale of Annaleise's handcrafted jewellery.
The legacy of Annaleise is still giving back to animals-i hope she's smiling down and seeing the lives she has changed 🐾
Thank you 🙏🏿 Shelly for choosing us to support and keep Annaleise's love of animals alive ❤️
We appreciate it.
Oopsie Daisy's surgery was a success. During the spay surgery it was found out that she had pyrometra - it can be fatal if not caught in time ⏰
We are still all in shock over this as this is primarily something that happens to unspayed senior cats & dogs ? Daisy is under a year old ?
Daisy wasn't showing any signs of pyrometra and we are thankful it was caught before it became life threatening - thank you Cottage Country Animal Clinic for taking such good care of our sweet girl.
She was sent home 🏡 with antibiotics and she is recovering well.

🚨JUST ANOTHER DAY IN RESCUE 🚨
Yesterday, Friday August 21 was A LOT...A WHOLE LOT ‼️
There is a whole lot that goes on in behind the scenes in a rescue and yesterday was an exceptionally busy day that ran high in emotions throughout the day.
Long post below 👇 but please read through it and you will get a glimpse of a "day in the life" (this one is way busier than we'd like)
We appreciate our team & our fosters ❤️
************
1) It started out with Oopsie Daisy & Gryphon being scheduled to be spayed & neutered at Cottage Country Animal Clinic - we got a phone call after both Daisy & Gryphon were both doing well, HOWEVER, it was discovered that Daisy (our wobbly/CH kitty) had pyrometra!!!!!! No one could believe it ! She was showing no signs of anything (yet) and she's less than a year old so this is a new one :( Pyrometra can be fatal if not caught in time - this mostly happens to senior female cats & dogs so again, this was very unexpected.
She is going to be ok ❤️
We are forever thankful🙏🏿for the staff at Cottage Country Animal Clinic for having the extra staff on yesterday and taking such good care our Oopsie Daisy during surgery and post -op. CH kitties need the extra care after anesthesia.
*********
2) Chloe, Char, Matcha & Freyja were ALL booked at our spay & neuter clinic in Barrie yesterday.
Thank you to Nancy for keeping Matcha & Freyja overnight so that they could be collected at 630am ⏰by our foster Marla to take everyone to Barrie. Thank you Marla for making the drive 🚗 and hanging out all day in Barrie waiting to pick them up and drive them back to Parry Sound.
Ohhhhh and FREYJA was picked up in Barrie and went straight to her NEW HOME 🏡 to recover.
*Stay tuned... adoption post coming ‼️
***********
3) Our Pearl gurl who is still waiting for her forever home with Betty, hadn't been well since Wednesday evening. I noticed Wednesday night she wasn't coming out to eat or to see me when my other cats were fed. Pearl is a social butterfly and the greeter, so this was unusual for her. Thursday morning was the same but I was able to get her to reluctantly eat a churru. Which again is not Pearl, she loves churrus (cat crack) The vet was called and an appointment was made for first thing Friday morning.
So while Daisy & Gryphon were getting sterilization surgery in the back at Cottage Country Animal Clinic, Pearl was also getting looked at.
Pearl had a high fever.
Blood work 🩸was done and she was kept there for a few hours while the tests were run.
Pearl was sent home after having sub Q fluids and with antibiotics,an appetite stimulant and some supportive wet food. Checking in again on Monday to see if there is improvement. Thank you Dr Jen for being so throrough with our Pearl gurl.
************
4) Esme is a gorgeous black 🖤 🐈⬛ panther she officially joined Cottage Paws Rescue 🐾 on Friday.
She's a lovely girl, and of course she isn't spayed and of course she doesn't have her vaccines 🤦.
She is sweet and gentle and a purr machine - stay tuned, she will be up for adoption real soon.
************
5) And for the final adventure of Friday.....and it's doozie‼️
We were made aware of a terrible hoarding situation. The owner wanted to get rid of the kittens (there are 15 kittens all 3-4 months old ) and then they didn't want to and then they wanted to and then they didn't want to. The kittens were indoor /outdoor kittens in a city that were being fed chicken necks for their meals ? Of course there was bylaw putting pressure on. They were going to dump them on a farm.
The owner finally said to come pick them up and then proceeded to change the time⏰ for pick up multiple times.
Foster care had already been secured and stepped up.
All 15 kittens were secured easily at the owners home. There were 3 kittens put in each carrier. These kittens are friendly (thankfully!!) They are ALL lovely.
When they were being unloaded, one of the carriers broke (yes, the carrier came apart) and three kittens🐈🐈🐈 went running😭. Two kittens were immediately secured and the third one went missing. This all happened at 11:15pm⏰last night. Messages wee sent to secure live traps and enlist people to help find the little guy (he is a tuxedo)
It was a very long long sleepless night.
**Happy to report he was found safe and sound at the neighbours home 🏡 this morning.
Thank you 🙏🏿 to Breanna & Mindy for spearheading this and spending the whole night looking.
Stay tuned - more info on this crew coming soon.
*******
Thank you to our TEAM and our FOSTERS and for all that YOU do.
You are appreciated ❤️
Thankfully we don't have too many days like this‼️

🚨MURPHY UPDATE🚨
Had a nice visit last night with Murphy 🧡.
This boy has adjusted well into his new home 🏡 with 2 other Cottage Paws Rescue alumni (Parker 🐈⬛and Freyja🐈⬛)
*Pictured with Parker below 👇
Murphy is enrolled in one on one training classes and I was thoroughly impressed with his new leash manners and walking skills.
Murphy gets to go to work with Dad a few days a week.
This boy has come so far in a very short time. He's such a good boy!
Thank you 🙏🏿 Eryn & Kris for opening your hearts ♥️ and home 🏡 to these 3 Cottage Paws Rescue 🐾 animals.
Thank you for having the patience and putting the time ⏰and effort into each and every one of them.
