Rest & self care are more than face masks and bubble baths, days spent in bed and long naps.
The truth is life is busy, YOU are busy.
Here are some ways to get some rest and self care in when there it feels like there is barely time to breath!
- Remove one thing from your to do lists. It can be big or small, maybe you don't need to organize that book shelf this week, maybe costco can wait. Whatever it is let yourself off the hook.
- Say 'no' to one small plan. FOMO is real but recovery is important! Say no to a small plan you have, maybe reschedule that coffee date, stay home from that dinner or sit out this time for game night. Whatever it is say no and take a rain check.
- Lower one expectation. We expect a lot from ourselves and other, letting go of one of those can help alleviate some stress. Maybe it's the expectation of having a home cooked meal every night of the week, or the expectation to be working at 100% capacity every day. Let it go and lift that weight from your shoulders.
- 1 hour of screen/phone free time. Technology is great but it has a way of draining you. Take one hour and turn your attention else where, maybe a book, craft or even a walk! Let yourself decompress without being 'tuned in' to everything.
- Release one negitive thought. I'm not doing enough. I'm being lazy. No, you're doing your BEST. Take one negitive thought and let go of it for another day.
- Wear a go-to comfy outfit. Comfort clothes are a great way to reduce some of the daily stress you are under. Weither it's a flowy skirt, baggy lounge wear, or an old band t-shirt wearing your comfort clothing when you can help get through the day.
- Let go of one 'should' thought. Similar to expectations it's important not to mistake 'should' for 'have to'. I should vaccum tonight, but maybe what I need more is rest. The only thing you absolutely should do is listen to your body and mind when it needs rest or some pressure taken off.
