The concept of clave as a form of music theory with its accompanying terminology, was fully developed during the big band era of the 1940s, when dance bands in Havana and New York City were enlarged. By the time salsa emerged in the 1970s, there was already a second generation of clave savvy composers and arrangers working in New York. John Santos stresses the importance of this skill:

Early tappers like Fred Astaire provided a more ballroom look to tap dancing, while Gene Kelly introduced ballet elements and style into tap. This style of tap led to what is today known as Broadway style, which is popular in American culture. It often involves high heeled tap shoes and show music, and is usually the type of tap first taught to beginners. Examples of this style are found in Broadway musicals such as Anything Goes and 42nd Street.

In the earliest years of tap dancing, tap shoes often had wooden soles, but most tap shoes since have had leather soles. Today, it is common for manufacturers of tap shoes to also produce and fix taps. There are a variety of styles of shoe, the Oxford shoe being very common in jazz dance, and Mary Jane (shoe) is common for younger girls in tap classes.

If you would notice long time salsa dancers have an excellent body shape because of lot of muscles groups are being used. Here are the particular muscle groups worked during a casual salsa dance: Calf muscles, hip muscles, hamstrings, arms – shoulder muscles and triceps, quadriceps.

That’s the key. The pros just love salsa and dance with their love and passion for it. But if you are quite anxious and have social pressure whenever you are practicing the dance, it’s absolutely no use. No matter what you do, you will not be able to dance salsa properly.
