Life lately: savouring the depth of winter. The more i live here, the more I am convinced i was born to live in a cold country 😅

There’s more to winter than just feeling cold. It’s that feeling of warmth at home after a cold day out, the buzz in a cozy restaurant contrasting with the silence of winter.

I could go on about the contrasting nature of well nature 😝 against a busy city life but basically as my gen Z friends would say,

IYKYK 🩷

[Review] An evening at Bar OTTO

Right from the moment I entered, the service blew me away. She was warm, as if she was born to do this. Great recommendations and tons of patience towards my endless questions.

The wine was excellent. I was already sold at the name, lazy winemaker. Like this could be me in 10 years. The wine was excellent, I like my wine full bodied and the colour on this one made me dubious but i was wrong. While being an easy drink, it also had depth. My friend loved it too.

The food: The soft shell crab bao was very nice and tasty. The chirashi was excellent, well-presented and they happily gave me ginger on the side, which i thought was needed to complement some of the more oily fish slices. And that matcha opera, drool

The decor: Transported to an izakaya in Tokyo, not even the non-Japanese staff brought us back to rue Notre-Dame :) The signs in Japanese were beautiful (yes I am biased, Japan is the LOML).

Verdict: Must-Try if Japan and you = 💖, Worth it if you are exploring restaurants. Bar Otto, take my money anytime!!

I often* get asked why leave a perfectly good life with good weather to come to Cold Canada?

The answer lies within my pizza last night. The fig jam, crispy pancetta, goats cheese doused with spicy oil pizza, that’s why? 😅

Last night, i was on my way to the grocery store but suddenly ended up at the Pizza place. Like how did that happen? Strange no?

I take a random seat and order a glass of wine. It’s Wednesday, wine is necessary. While waiting for my pizza, i looked outside and saw a parking lot. What an ugly parking lot (why i am surprised) then suddenly the wall lit up and some characters in black and white started moving around the screen.

I was watching a show impromptu through a pizzeria window, my pizza was piping hot, my phone was on DND - it was pure joy. Then i did my 10k steps in the dark, unbothered.

Do you understand the point of the story? If you don’t, we will not relate to each other and that’s ok…..

we can still share a pizza and talk about pizza toppings (chicken and pineapple my favourite, yours?)
